My eyes roamed around the place which looked small on the outside but mega huge on the inside. There were rows and rows of books, shelves from floor to ceiling and a staircase that led to a basement of more novels.

In the corner was a beverage stand, and two women were standing behind it, serving white cups to an elderly couple.

“Okay, please tell me where you actually found this place Hunter.” I gaped, running my fingers along a display of contemporary literature.

“Craig’s list, darlin’. They got some good date suggestions.” He shrugged, checking out a wall of car magazines.

“Liar.”

His lips upturned as he flipped through the pages of a truck leaflet. “Caught me.”

I shook my head with a smile and turned my attention to the aisles. This place was truly a crossbreed between a library and a Barnes and Noble, but homier. Even though it had an enormous selection, for some odd reason, I still felt like I was in my grandma’s house checking out her old storage.

“What d’you like to read, Bambi?” Hunter asked behind me.

The list.“I like fantasy, mystery, psychological thrillers… you name it. But romance is my number one.”

“Is it now?” He smirked, his eyes rolling to the different headers atop the book sections. “How ‘bout we find you some good romance, then.”

I followed his step as he led us towards the back corner where a large pink sign hung from the ceiling, reading: FOR THE LOVERS.

“Take your pick.” He said, ushering me into the hollow aisle.

Since the shelves were from floor to ceiling, the books were shaded by the main lights. Though tiny pot lamps were positioned underneath the shelves to create a spotlight affect over the bevy of novels. My God, this place really thought of it all.

My eyes filtered through a bunch of authors I’d never heard of, as well as some familiar ones when a bright orange book stole my attention: Caught Red-Handed.

I was a sucker for cartoon covers and this one did it for me, so I tucked it underneath my arm before waving for Hunter to come over.

“Can I recommend you something?” I asked, batting my eyelashes. “I have good taste.”

Assuming we were enclosed by books, I thought Hunter would be checking out some titles but he kept an eager simper, his eyes stamped to my face.

“You do have good taste, Bambi.” He began, clearing his throat. “Have you checked the bottom shelf? Sometimes the best novels are kept secret.”

I watched as he crouched down slowly, turning his head to look out the aisle before running a light hand around the back of my calf.

His other hand hovered over the novels as he slid calculated fingers higher and higher until he reached the bottom hem of my skirt.

I completely froze, gripping tightly of the book sandwiched between my bicep and swallowed. “Hunter… we’re in public.”

There were tiny slits at the back of the shelves that allowed me to see how many people were roaming in the bookstore, and although no one was around us, I wasn’t about to take the risk of getting caught.

He pulled out a book, removing his grasp on my leg and turned to a random page. “Come down here for a second, sweetheart. Can’t seem to read this line, forgot my glasses.”

Glasses my ass.I rolled my eyes, squatting down beside him as he placed a deliberate finger in his mouth and licked his thumb.

“What um,”fuck.“What line, Hunter?”

Those blue spheres didn’t leave my eyes as he gripped the book in his left hand while guiding the other underneath my skirt, toying with the thin fabric separating him from entering me.

My beathing hitched as he carefully slipped one finger inside of me, causing me to fumble against the shelf.

“Hunter –”

“Baby,” he let out, handing me the book he was holding. “Maybe it’ll be better if you read it to me.”

“You can’t possible expect me to –”
