I’m sorry, I think that came across super intense. You probably were just going along with the “you have no idea” joke, and I should’ve responded in kind. I don’t know why I’m in this mood. Can we just ignore this?

It’s the first time she’s shut him down like this. He brushes his hair off his forehead, unsure of how to handle it. Maybe they haven’t gotten as close as he’d thought. Maybe it bothers her how often he messages—he initiates emailing most nights. But he can’t bring himself to pretend that he doesn’t want to know her, even if she doesn’t want the same.
