Amethyst could feel excitement begin to bubble up inside of her. She had heard some ghost stories about the town. It was one of the reasons she’d chosen it for her next travel feature. She wanted to grill Olivia for more information but she held back. “Wow really? Do you think Mr. Marchant would let me go out there?”
Olivia nodded her head in agreement. “Don't see why not. He loves company, especially since he is alone most of the time. Other than Cooper, it's just him and his golden retriever, Molly out there. He would probably love it if you visited.”
Amethyst couldn't contain her excitement and a few questions rolled out of her mouth at a rapid pace. “Wonderful, you think it's all right to go tonight? Do you think I should call him first? Can I have directions to Ghost Peak?”
A loud rumble of laughter filled the room as Olivia held her hand over her chest. “No just go on out. Chances are, Cooper is still there anyway. Hold on a sec and I'll write out directions. It's a little bit of a walk to get there, but the view is breath taking and completely worth it.”
Olivia continued to write down some of the detailed directions. The walk earlier hadn't gone as she originally intended, but sometimes it was better to leave things unplanned. With Olivia’s assistance she had a lead on her story. Maybe she would even be able to cut her visit short and head home. Her mother would surely follow either way…
She would deal with the issue of her mother when she arrived. No reason to stress about it at this point in time. There were more important things to investigate and explore. She was about to get her first taste of the legend of Easton Hill. She couldn’t wait to see the place he was rumored to have proposed to his wife, Marianne.
Olivia picked up the paper and handed it to Amethyst. “Here you go. It was nice meeting you Amethyst. Good luck.”
Amethyst nodded her head at Olivia as she said, “Thank you for all your help. Have a good afternoon.”
Then she turned and left the inn. Nothing like the first hint of a story to get her blood churning with enthusiasm, setting a fast pace she began strolling along the path Olivia had outlined on the note. Soon she would start to gather the details of this town's ghost and the rich history that made him become a legend.
