With a roll of her eyes, she dodged the kiss by turning her head away from him. She wasn’t in the best mood since he was leaving the suite to do God knew what. She overheard a few of his phone calls, and whenever they got too deep, he would step out to the balcony to continue them. His homeboy died last night, so it didn’t take rocket science for Remedy to figure out that he was putting things in motion to avenge Los’ death. Like any other woman who was locked in with a street nigga, she felt the need to try to protect Kross and keep him from doing anything crazy, but it only got her so far. He was leaving, and that was final.

She felt him grab her face, redirecting her head to give himself access to kiss her lips. “I’ll be back, shawty. Stop acting like that. I’m big on the way we say goodbye to each other. That shit matters,” he told her after pecking her lips. The level of seriousness webbing within his eyes let Remedy know he truly wouldn’t be okay unless she gave him a proper goodbye.

A light sigh drifted out of her as her face softened while looking up at him. “Just be careful,” she told him while wrapping her arms around his torso.

A light smile graced his handsome face as he nodded his head. “Always.”

He didn’t leave without grabbing another kiss and a handful of her ass. They were locked in with each other, and although feelings were still fresh, they both felt damn good about it.

Once he left, Remedy plopped down in bed with a heavy sigh. Although she would have preferred to be spending the night with Kross, she had to admit that the alone time was needed. The only time she ever had alone was whenever she went to visit her father, and most of the time, that consisted of her being in tears.

She decided to enjoy some TV and indulge in a few snacks she and Kross picked up. This was one of the few chances she had to get a break because she had to get back to the shop bright and early the following day. Two episodes into catching up on the season ofReal Housewives of Atlantashe missed out on when they aired, she heard the phone in the suite ring. Her brows bumped together, unsure why she was getting a call at the room, but she shuffled over to the phone, nonetheless.

“Hello?”

“Hi, Ms. Harris. We just wanted to notify you that the vehicle you have registered on your reservation is currently being towed.”

“Towed?! What do you mean?! I parked exactly where I should. There’s no reason for me to be getting towed!” Remedy snapped.

“I understand, but we didn’t dispatch this tow truck. It may have been your dealership,” the woman from the front desk explained.

A loud groan dispelled from Remedy before she responded. “I’m coming down there now. Thank you.” That was the end ofthe call, which prompted her to rush around the suite to find something to slip on. She was glad she packed a couple of outfits when Kross told her to book the suite.

Once she was dressed, she grabbed her car keys and room key before jetting out the room. Remedy knew good and well who dispatched a tow truck to take her car. She had spent so much time ignoring the fuck out of Tone, he had to take drastic measures to get her attention. He did gift her the car, so she wouldn’t have been surprised if his crazy and controlling ass had put a tracking device on it. That had to be the only way he figured out where the fuck she was. As of lately, Remedy hadn’t been giving a fuck about anything when it came to Tone. His trip to Chicago was a blessing to her, and she used it to her full advantage.

She was sure he got the notifications on his phone from the doorbell camera when she came in and out at all times of the night, plus when she moved Ava and Melo out. While he was away, she was making moves, making money, and having fun with a new nigga who was treating her right. She deserved it after all the hell he put her through all those years. She wanted him to feel all that pain, which was why she never went out her way to disable the doorbell camera. He was all the way in Chicago watching her live her new life, and he couldn’t do shit about it, or so she thought.

Now that Remedy was hearing that a tow truck was picking up her car, she knew Tone was trying to do everything in his power to keep her under his control. Truthfully, she knew whatever she asked for, Kross would provide, but she had enough of being gifted things by men. They always managed to take it all back whenever she decided to stand up for herself and set her boundaries. From what she had seen so far, Kross wasn’t that type of man, but she just wanted to avoid a situation like that altogether. She was hoping she would have been ableto milk Tone for a couple of more weeks while she stacked up the money she made from her deal with Kross. When she had enough paper, she was going to move on with her life and never look back. She wanted happiness, peace, and a love that was healthy, things Tone could never give her, but Kross could.

Upon making it down to the lobby, she jogged toward the exit of the hotel to exit to the parking area where she left her car. Once she stepped outside, she felt a rough grip on her arm, causing her to snap her head at whoever snatched her up.

“Get the fuck?” Before she could hiss out her demand to be released, she felt the cold steel of the barrel of a gun dig into her left side.

“Shut the fuck up,” Tone gritted harshly in her ear. “Make a scene, and I’ll pop your ass right here.”

Remedy gulped down as the grip he had on her arm tightened. Peering into his eyes, she was met with nothing but darkness and fury. If she had any idea that he was setting her up to step out of the hotel, she would have never come down from the suite, and she would have just dealt with the car later. He got her vulnerable. She was without her phone or her wallet because she thought she would have been able to convince the tow truck driver to leave her car.

He hooked his arm around her shoulder, keeping her close as they walked through the dark parking lot. The spot she parked her car in was empty, which let her know that his crazy ass really did have her car towed. She was sick of his ass and all his crazy-ass antics.

“Get in the fucking car, Remedy,” he ordered as they approached his Hellcat.

“Tone?”

“Get in the fucking, Remedy!” he barked, digging the gun deeper into her side.

Tears glistened within her eyes as her fear began to set in. He was way past angry, and she could tell he wasn’t about to spare her. He shoved her into the passenger side of the car before going around to get in himself. As soon as he brought the engine to life, he drifted off the premises, leaving nothing but the scent of burning rubber and a cloud of smoke behind.

“Tone, please,” Remedy cried as he sped down the road to get on the interstate.

With one hand on the steering wheel, he used the other send a harsh backhand across her face. “Bitch, shut the fuck up!” he bellowed. The impact of the slap was so hard, Remedy’s head jerked back and hit the head rest. Tears sprang from her eyes as a burning sensation stung her face.

She didn’t let the fear she had for the gun he was clutching cloud much of her judgment as she quickly reacted and balled her fist up before punching him right in his jaw. Her blow caused him to swerve the vehicle a bit, but he quickly gained control and got it steady.

“Bitch, do you really think I won’t fucking kill you?!” he spewed, so angry that he began foaming at the mouth.

As he sped down the interstate, Remedy leaned against the door of the car in full hysterics. She honestly couldn’t put anything pass him. He was such an egotistical monster, he was capable of taking her life and thinking he had the right. In his mind, her life started and ended with him. She was his, and the sooner she came to terms with that, the better it would be for everyone.

He clenched the gun in hand and repeatedly tapped the barrel against the steering wheel, debating on whether he should blow her fucking brains out right at that moment. From Chicago, he watched her come in and out the house wearing nothing but the sexy clothes she pushed to the back of her closet and refused to wear for him. He knew good and well there was a new niggawho was in her ear and had her acting different. He would have to die in order for her to move on, and even in the afterlife, she would still be his. Tone wasn’t about to let no nigga come in and take what he built from the ground up.
