“Why not?”

“It involves your brother.”

“Oh for the love of God,” I groan, rolling my eyes. “You two are insufferable.”

“We were drunk…and I dared him.”

“Of course you did.” Chuckling, I shake my head.

“A few years after we did it is when I got the second one. He only got one but it might technically be two by the way?—”

“Stop.” I hold up my hand. “Do not tell me what he got, I’m beggin’ you.”

He chuckles and it feels nice to be laughing with him again.

“I’ve wondered if gettin’ my clit pierced would help me…ya know, with my issue, but the long healin’ time scared me. I also worried it’d get infected and make it worse.”

His gaze lowers down my body before it snaps back to mine as if he hadn’t realized he was gawking.

“The Prince Albert is known to enhance pleasure for both partners but a clit piercin’ helps with personal stimulation, includin’ those who have difficulty reachin’ climax, so it’s reasonable to think it’d make it feel better for ya.”

“Now who sounds like they’re readin’ from a pamphlet.”

His lips tilt up. “I did a lot of research before my second one.”

“I wonder how that works when both partners are pierced. I’d be scared they’d catch on to each other.”

“Not likely,” he states as if he knows for certain. “Aundrea was pierced too.”

And now I want to bleach my brain with that knowledge.

Maybe I’ll get my nipples pierced instead. Although that sounds more painful.

“Good to know.” I swallow down the rest of my coffee before setting the mug in the sink. “I’m gonna get ready for the day. Jamie and I are meetin’ up to get mani/pedi’s for our dates and then I’m hopin’ to find a new dress for tonight. But I’ll be back in time for us to drive to the restaurant together.”

We haven’t discussed plans for after dinner, and I haven’t wanted to bring it up, but since we agreed to arrive together and leave together last weekend at the bar, I’m hoping that means they won’t ask us to do anything after. Jackson and I haven’t talked a lot this week. Either I was working or he was sleeping when he wasn’t on shift.

“Sounds good. Hope y’all have fun.” He leans against the counter with his arms folded over his chest with the mug in one hand and his legs crossed at the ankles. Silas looking at home and being comfortable is more attractive than I’d like to admit.

Although I wasn’t thrilled about him moving in, I like him being here. He’s fun to hang out with—even as friends—he cleans up after himself, helps with chores without me having to ask, and cooks. When we went grocery shopping a few nights ago, he picked out steaks and made them that night. They were the best I’ve ever had.

He mocked me for not knowing how to turn on the grill, and I teased him for overcooking the veggies, but we had a good time together. I contributed by making the side salads.

“Oh my God, hi!” Jamie engulfs me in a hug after running full force into me. “I can’t believe it’s finally the day!”

“Me too!” I squeeze her back, but I’m not half as enthusiastic as she is about this.

It’s awkward now after what Silas and I did last night, but it’s not like I can tell her. It was only a one-time thing anyway. There’s no reason to get hung up on it when it won’t happen again.

We walk side by side into the salon and get situated into the pedi chairs. It’s been a long time since I’ve had one, so I’m glad she recommended it. We talk the entire time, and I’m grateful she’s so easy to chat with because it soothes my nerves about the four of us going to dinner.

“Tell me some juicy things about Silas.”

“Sure, whaddya wanna know?”

She spent the past twenty minutes telling me all about her brother and what a great guy he is. Just from the brief communication we’ve had, I don’t doubt it.

“Anythin’ and everythin’. Did you know his ex?”
