“And it’s a good thing there’s four of us,” Brendan pointed out. “Otherwise, we would never be able to keep up with you.”
“You might be right about that, Your Highness,” I teased him. It wasn’t that I considered myself a great seductress, but I just felt that the five of us were a team. It went beyond the sex. We fit together like pieces of the same puzzle and our intimate relationship echoed that.
When I lay there, between them, it was so easy to chase my nightmares away. It was so easy to not worry about what was waiting for me outside these doors, the countless challenges I’d have to face. It was so easy to find new strength for myself in theirs.
I’d have liked us to revel in it for a while longer, but unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be. My time was not my own and I was due to leave to Terra to see my mother.
I tore myself away from their arms with great regret. “Be careful while I’m away. Don’t find yourself another crazy Terran.”
“As if that would happen.” August snorted. “We already have the best one.”
I believed him. I believed them all. And when I boarded the shuttle toward Terra, half an hour later, I carried their kisses and promises in my heart.
I might not know what was waiting for me back home, but I did have a certainty—the fact that for my lovers’ sake, I needed to find out.
