“Amazing! I love it.” Kenz grins.
“Good.”
“So you and East are all set for the grand reveal then, huh? Sounds like it’s going to be a star-studded event.” Liv raises her brows.
“Yes. I’m ridiculously nervous. Heck even Tom is showing signs of stage fright. I told him whatever he cooks is always amazing, and we’ll get through it together.”
“That’s good.”
“I just really need it to be a success. Not just for the project and all that, but I need the revenue. With Gramps maybe needing long-term care, I have to figure out a way to pay for it all.” I sigh.
“You’ll get there. Somehow, you’ll figure it out. And just let us know what we can do to help. Okay? I’m serious. If we have to do fundraisers or bake sales or whatever. Wewillfigure it out.” Kenz gives me a meaningful look.
“I appreciate it. And thank you for all your help. You guys helping with Gramps and the bar when everything was really going to hell there for a bit,” I start to get a little teary-eyed and try not to sniffle but manage to do it anyway. “I couldn’t have done it without you.”
“Oh, Wren. You don’t have to thank us. You’ve been there for us so many times when we needed help. That’s what we do for each other.” Liv shakes her head and Kenz tugs me closer to her and gives me a side hug.
“I know, but I just… I don’t know what I’d do without you. I don’t know what I’m gonna do in a few months when this is all over, and we all move on. How will I live without the two of you around?”
“How will we live without you is the bigger question.” Kenz squeezes me tighter.
“Let me get another round of drinks.” I stand and head behind the bar.
“Can I have another one of whatever this was?” Liv holds up her glass that had one of the new cocktails I’d come up with in it.
“Definitely. Coming right up.”
“Me too!” Kenz calls.
I come back to the table a few minutes later and slide the drinks to them.
“So… I have a little confession to make.”
“Uh oh. That sounds ominous. Is this why you’re plying us with drinks?” Kenz raises an eyebrow.
“Maybe. Well, that and because I truly am grateful for all the help.”
“We know. We love you.” Liv smiles at me.
“So… you know that East and I don’t always get along but—”
“Oh fucking hell.” Kenz curses.
“I told you. Pay up!” Liv grins wide and taps her hand on the table.
“What is happening?” I look between them utterly confused.
“You just lost me 100 dollars.” Kenz shakes her head.
“What?”
“Assuming you’re about to tell us you’ve been sleeping with East?” Kenz raises her brow like she has the slightest hope that she could be wrong.
“You bet on whether or not I was sleeping with East?”
“Sort of?” Liv at least has the grace to look sheepish.
“Explain.”
