I know she truly means it as a joke, but it cuts a little.

“I assured them that there would be coffee, electrolytes, and pancakes in your future.” I nod toward the table where breakfast is already set up. “You want to eat there, or you want it in bed?”

“I can get up. I just need to get clothes.” She sets the coffee down and stands. And fuck with the morning light pouring in through the windows, in nothing but a little lace pair of panties she looks fucking edible. It takes all my willpower not to drag her back down in bed and make her come on my tongue again this morning. But I can be a fucking adult. I can take care of her.

“Here.” I grab one of my shirts and toss it to her.

She looks down at it in her hands, and smiles at it. “Thanks.”

She pulls it over her head and grabs her coffee, and we sit down at the table.

“Are you hungover? I lied because I wanted you to be able to sleep in. But I was a little worried after all the shots you were doing last night. I got you a smoothie that’s supposed to help with hangovers in case.” I nod to it.

“Not too bad. I think the cake helped.” She grins as she grabs a few pieces of fruit and puts them on her plate next to the pancakes that are already there, and then takes a few sips of the smoothie.

“You and your magic cake.” I shake my head as I drink some of my coffee.

“I mean between the magic cake and your magic tongue; I think I had the best sleep I’ve had in a long time.”

I raise my brow at the compliment.

“Good. You need your rest. Because it sounds like from the group text the girls are gonna run you ragged all day, and then you’re gonna have to come back here and let me fuck you ragged. So, I suggest eating accordingly.” I wink at her before I look back down at my phone.

A little choked laugh comes out of her, “I don’t think I’ll ever get used to the way you talk.”

“Because I’m honest about how much I want to fuck you?”

“You’re very blunt, yes.”

“But you like it.”

“Yes.” A little blush tinges her cheeks as she takes a bite of her pancakes.

“Good. We can play that game later. See how blunt I can be and how hard I can make you blush.”

“Okay, stop making me think about sex, or I won’t be able to eat breakfast.” She shoots me a little warning glare, and I grin at her.

She shakes her head and takes another bite and a long sip of her coffee. “So what are they planning for us?”

“I guess the girls have plans to go on some snowshoeing hike this afternoon. And then they want to have a girl’s night and a guy’s night. All of us going out and hitting some of the bars and clubs in town.”

“But in separate groups?”

“That’s what it sounded like. Liv, I think is worried you’ll be feeling left out.”

“Yeah. That sounds like her. She’s sweet like that.”

“We should get some work done on the project today too if there’s time. I was thinking—what if we do a grand reopening? Once we try some of the things we’re planning with the new menu and the broader beer selection. We can reintroduce people to the place. We can get some celebrities to come and push the reopening a little that way.”

I can see the wheels and cogs moving as she considers the suggestion, and she nods.

“It sounds great, but what celebrities do you anticipate coming? I mean if we get you guys to come and maybe sign some balls or jerseys, that would definitely get the attention of the college football crowd, but they already know it’s a hangout for you all.”

“I can ask my brother. He knows a few of the guys who play for the Denver Rampage. If they came it might draw a different crowd.”

“Shit, I mean yeah. If he came… people would go nuts to see him. But you think he’d do that? Can we even afford his fee?”

“He’s my brother, so yes, he’d do it if I asked.”
