The combination of his tongue, the way I’m pinned against the bed, and how good he feels inside me is too much, and I come loudly a few moments later, moaning and gasping as he pulls me up off the mattress. He fucks me harder then, his rhythm matching the waves of the last of my orgasm as he comes inside me, groaning into my chest as the sweat drips down his face and slides over my stomach. It tickles as it rolls down my body, and I twist underneath him as he takes another stuttered breath and looks me over in confusion. When he sees the source of my discomfort, he dips his tongue out and licks it up, flattening and sliding it up my abdomen and over the underside of my breast as he pulls out of me.

I can feel the warmth of him against my thigh as he reaches up over me to unhook the cuffs, making my hands fall. His eyes drift down to meet mine and the determination and lust there has melted into reverence.

“I love you,” he whispers before his lips brush over mine in a soft kiss.

“I love you too.”

He stands, lifting me up and cradling me in his arms as he carries me to the bathroom.

“Gonna get us cleaned up in the shower and then we can sleep like the dead for a while. At least until I have the energy to fuck you again.”

“Sounds like a plan,” I grin at him, pressing a kiss to his shoulder before he puts me down on the edge of the shower bench.

He cranks on the shower and then turns to me as we wait for the water to warm up. His hand slides under my chin, lifting it so my eyes meet his again.

“You make me feel so fucking lucky.”

“Like four leaf clovers?”

“Exactly like that.” He smiles at me.

“Me too,” I agree, and another stupid smile comes to my face because around this man I can’t stop smiling.

Violet and Benare hosting an engagement party for us. One that’s a little bit rushed because Halloween is coming up, and Violet knows Joss loves the idea of doing it with a theme. Since it’s so soon, it’s just friends from the team and a few others here in Seattle attending.

But my mother, by some miracle—likely influenced by my brother, has offered to host another one if we want in my hometown. Which I’ll only consider agreeing to if they both come out here to meet Joss first, where she can feel safe and I can send them packing if I need to.

But it’s a worry for another day because today I have everything I want as Joss, dressed like the Wicked Witch, stumbles back into the room linked arm and arm with Violet who’s dressed like Dorothy.

“We need to make the boys do the bobbing-for-poisoned-apples thing. I need my nightly amusement,” Joss jokes to Violet and Harper.

“Just don’t let Waylon go first. He’s freakishly good at it, and it’ll ruin the game for everyone else,” Mackenzie adds.

“Here are your graveyard cupcakes,” Ben calls from the kitchen, sliding them onto the counter as he finishes them with the last of the candy pumpkins, summoning half the intoxicated adults into the room.

Which reminds me… “Has anyone seen Tobias yet?” I ask.

“No. He said he was coming. I thought he’d be here by now.” Alex shrugs.

“Yes, he told me I’d appreciate his costume,” Joss says, walking up and leaning her head on my shoulder.

“I bet he did,” I grumble.

“Oh, stop. You have exactly zero to be worried about, and you know it.”

“You guys haven’t seen the news?” Scarlett asks quietly.

“What news?” Harper turns to her.

“Uh… If you don’t know, I don’t think I want to be the one to say. I just accidentally found out when I was scrolling earlier because it’s trending now.”

“What’s trending? I’ve been too busy helping Violet prep,” Joss asks.

“Same,” Harper answers.
