In that moment, she felt owned. Claimed, in the best way. It was the first time she’d ever truly felt like she belonged to someone. Someone who wanted to belong to her in return.
“Bishop,” she breathed, her arms wrapped around his neck as he licked away the drops of blood sliding down her neck. He seemed as hungry for the taste of her blood as he’d been for her pussy, and when he laid her back against the bench, she realized the two needs were as intertwined for him as they were for her.
“We’re outside,” she protested half-heartedly, even though she was already helping him slip her panties off.
“I don’t care,” he murmured, hastily pushing down his unbuttoned slacks. She’d never seen him be anything but perfectly composed, and knowing that she was the one who’d had that effect on him was maddening. “Do you?”
All she could do was shake her head, opening her legs as he settled between them. He captured her lips once more as he sank into her, slow yet forceful. Ella moaned as her body adjusted to him. As recently as they’d made love, it was still a struggle to take him, but she soon found herself relaxing to the rhythm of his thrusts. It helped that she was already shamefully wet.
The first time had been slow and sensuous, but she realized there was something to be said for raw and passionate as well. Their tongues warred for dominance, and she was happy to let his win, her hands slipping into his smooth tresses and her hips naturally bucking into him.
Even though she wasn’t in heat, the feel of him buried deep inside her satisfied some primal need almost as intense. His hand cupped her ass, squeezing her soft flesh as he drove his cock deeper into her, pushing her over the edge she’d been hovering on ever since his bite.
Ella forgot all about remaining quiet as his name escaped her lips in a gasp, and the glow of desire in his gaze made it clear he wasn’t interested in secrecy aboutthis. He came inside her a moment later, their bodies shuddering in mutual satisfaction.
As Ella finally caught her breath, reality set in. As soon as Bishop pulled out, she hastily pulled her panties back on and to her relief, they didn’t seem to have drawn any attention. “I can’t believe we did that.”
Bishop gave her a crooked smile, his eyes still glazed with desire. “I’ve always considered myself a patient man, but I think you might be my weakness.”
Chapter 4
Axel
The entire ride back to the Academy, Axel had been worried about how he was going to keep whatever the hell Ella had done to him from making its way around school. When he’d received a call from his mother that he needed to return home immediately, he was spared one dilemma in favor of another.
Emily’s nose was sharper than anyone else’s, so at least he knew if drowning himself in body spray was sufficient to fool her, he’d be safe at school. Of course, she’d complained about him smelling like a “cheap off-the-rack clothing store at the mall,” but that was better than the alternative.
He’d been home for three days dealing with the “crisis,” which turned out to be a bunch of bullshit. Just some toms getting uppity in the absence of a pride sire. Axel knew she didn’t really need him to handle it. When it came to Emily Hill, there was what she said and then all the layers between it.
She was making a point, and it hadn’t escaped him. The pride needed a leader, and in order to achieve that, it would need a mated pair. She undoubtedly saw the fact that he had yet to mark Ella as his mate as a personal failure, but he wasn’t going to let his mother be the driving force behind anything in his life, let alone his mating.
He wanted Ella for reasons all his own, both petty and sincere. He wanted her because shewashis, and the fact that she thought anything else both infuriated and aroused him.
Of course, Emily didn’t need to know that. Now that he’d put a lid on the fire, and knocked a few heads around, it was time to get back to the Academy and put an end to the little game Ella thought she could play with him.
He wasn’t going to be her knight, or her pawn, for that matter. He was the fucking king, and it was about damn time she knew it.
He arrived too late to make it to his first class with Ella, so he hung around in the hallway to wait for her. When he saw her walking down the hall with Bishop’s arm draped around her like the entitled shit he was, anger flared up in him, but it was easy to contain.
At least until he saw the mark on her neck.
Axel knew better than anyone how crucial self-control was, despite what many thought. Sure, he popped off and had a short fuse, but if he wasn’t the master of that temper, he would have had a body count to rival any serial killer’s. There was a reason everyone treaded carefully around tigers, and he had been holding back his entire life. The only time he’d ever regretted it was when he was fighting Bishop, but he wouldn’t make that mistake again.
Now, it looked like he was about to get the chance.
Ella froze when her eyes met his, but Axel was focused on the tom next to her. His tiger was already waking, its possessive energy shooting through his veins like fire. Axel knew ifhedidn’t act, it would.
The second Bishop stepped away from Ella, Axel lunged. The other male knew what was coming, and he met him with equal force. Axel had momentum on his side and he slammed Bishop into the nearest row of lockers, causing the onlookers to scatter.
There was a teacher stationed at the end of the hall, but he didn’t dare to intervene. Sterling was probably the only one ballsy enough, but even he wouldn’t be enough to hold back Axel’s rage this time.
Axel threw a punch at Bishop’s smug face and Bishop caught his fist.
“What’s the matter?” Bishop sneered, straining against him. “Mad you missed your chance?”
Axel grabbed him by the shoulders and flung him into the opposite wall. Bishop caught his balance, but he staggered. Axel wasn’t going to hesitate this time. Before he could go all in, someone grabbed his arm, and he was about to throw them off when he heard Ella’s voice and froze.
“Stop it!” she screamed, her voice trembling with anger and adrenaline.
