“Hurry up before I get caught out here.”

“For fuck’s sake,” I mutter under my breath before I pull the door open a few inches. “What?”

My breath catches. Linc is shirtless and wearing only a pair of sweatpants. Even his feet are bare.

“What’s wrong? What’s happened?” I ask in a panic.

“I could ask you the same thing,” he muses as his eyes take in my appearance.

I cringe. I didn’t even look in the mirror.

“I just got in,” I say in a rush, “I’m getting ready for bed.”

“Perfect,” he whispers before pressing his hand to the door.

A frown wrinkles his brow.

“Babe?” The way he looks at me with hurt, puppy-dog eyes makes my chest ache.

But it doesn’t immediately make me follow orders.

“What are you doing at my door, half naked?”

“I…” His arm lifts so he can rub the back of his neck. “I…uh…couldn’t sleep.”

I raise a brow, amusement and a little relief hitting me.

But just as I open my mouth to say something, the ding of the elevator fills the silent hallway and we both panic.

He’s right. We can’t be caught like this.

Without thinking, I open the door and drag him in before anyone sees him.

The second the lock engages, he spins on me, backing me up against the door.

His minty breath rushes over me as he takes his time studying every inch of my face.

“W-what are you doing?” I stutter.

His eyes linger on my lips for a few seconds before they lift to find mine.

My breath catches at the hunger reflected back at me.

“I don’t know,” he confesses. “But whatever it is, I can’t stop.”

His forearms lift, caging me in as we stare at each other.

The air is electric, and all I can think about his having his lips on me.

That kiss in my old apartment has been haunting me for days. I want a repeat. I’m desperate for a repeat.

And if the way he lowers his head tells me anything, it’s that he can’t stop thinking about it either.

My chest heaves, my previous desire returning full force.

When I discovered that I needed more than my vibe and my fingers a few minutes ago, this wasn’t entirely what I had in mind. Okay, okay, it was. I just…I didn’t think it would happen.

His eyes continue to hold mine as he closes the final few inches between us. Silently, he’s telling me to stop him.
