“I…uh…I’ve told Casey.”
A laugh erupts.
“Why is that funny?” she asks, almost sounding offended.
“Because I assumed that she’s known this whole time. You tell her everything.”
She shakes her head. “I only told her tonight. I needed to talk to someone and…you were busy.”
“You’d have chosen me over Casey?” I ask, my mind blown.
“Hearing you say all of that, making out like I wasn’t important, hurt,” she explains, ignoring my question. “I freaked out. I’m sorry.”
“Hey,” I say, cupping her jaw and kissing the tip of her nose. “You have nothing to apologize for. After the game tomorrow, we’ll tell him. Just don’t have too much to drink because you might need to drive me to the ER.”
“He was angry earlier,” she muses.
“Yeah, but I can handle Rett, babe. For you, I’ll handle anything.”

PARKER
Movement beside me wakes me up, and I open my eyes, already knowing what I’m going to find.
“Morning, pretty girl,” Linc breathes, his voice still raspy from sleep.
Desire pools between my thighs as memories from last night flicker in my mind.
Rett’s here.
I close my eyes again as I remember everything Linc said to me in the dark after he slipped into my bed.
The second I felt him, I knew it was stupid of me to assume he’d sleep in his own room. He’s played incredibly well the last few games; I highly doubt he’s going to risk messing that up by changing his routine again. Especially when he’s going up against Rett. Neither of them is more competitive than when they’re on the ice together.
“Hey,” he says, reaching over and cupping my cheek. “Give me those beautiful eyes, babe.”
I want to fight him and refuse his demands, but I can’t.
My eyelids flutter open again, and I find his blue eyes gazing down at me.
“There she is,” he muses.
“What time is it?” I ask.
“Early.”
“You couldn’t sleep?”
He shakes his head. “Can’t stop thinking about last night. I’m sorry, Parker.”
“It’s okay. I won’t lie—it hurt me at the time, hearing you talk about me like I wasn’t important, but I get it. It’s the way it had to be.”
“I hate that he ruined our evening.”
“Enjoying that new table, huh?” I tease.
“Like you wouldn’t believe. Best purchase I ever made.” The wide smile he gives me makes my stomach clench. “I just wish it had the happy ending I was hoping for.”
