I blink.I’m crying? Shit, I am crying.
‘I promise, these are happy tears,’ I sniffle. ‘I just…’ I feel like there’s so much more I need to say, but I don’t even know where to begin. I settle for leaning into his touch, wrapping my arms around his neck, and pulling him in close. ‘Thank you.’
His arms settle on my waist as he pulls me flush against him. ‘Thankyou, Noelle.’
We stand there holding each other for a little longer before I pull away. I’m sure my eyes are bloodshot and my cheeks are tear-stained, but Alex looks at me like I’ve just hung the moon.
‘I love you,’ I say.
His smile stretches from cheek to cheek. Just for me. Only ever for me. ‘I love you too.’
