Although Drake was pleased with how relaxed Camila was, he could still detect a shadow of uneasiness in her eyes when she thought he wasn’t watching. He hoped that by sharing the information he was waiting for, he could dispel any further sadness his wife might have.

Camila spent her daysafter Mandy’s departure in the garden and stables. She tried to stay busy and keep her thoughts of her family from invading.
She knew deep down that there wasn’t anything they could do to hurt her, but until she knew they had been taken care of, she still had a bit of doubt that things were going to be okay.
During the day, it was easier to forget, but sometimes at night she felt the unease start to grow.
If it wasn’t for the way Drake fucked her until she was exhausted each night, she thought her sleep would be filled with nightmares. It helped that when she felt one start, her husband’s arms would tighten around her, and he’d murmur to her until she settled back into deep sleep.
Mandy also helped by calling her every night after work, and she always managed to make her laugh until her stomach hurt.
Camila tried her best to hide the worry from her husband, but by the look in his eyes, sometimes she didn’t think she succeeded.Fortunately, Drake didn’t bug her about it and just gave her the support and security she needed.
Every day that passed became harder when she hadn’t heard anything about her family. When she asked Drake, he told her he was waiting for a few people to get back to him, and when he knew more, he’d tell her everything.
So, she concentrated on taking one day at a time.
Chapter Fifteen
Drake was sitting athis desk when his phone rang. When he saw the name of his private detective, he quickly answered.
“Hey, Richard.”
“Hello, Drake, I have some news.”
Drake sat back and braced himself for the information. He heard Richard moving papers around before he spoke.
“I talked to contacts I had at the police department in the town where Camila’s family lives. It seems they have several open cases involving them.”
Drake’s eyebrows rose.“That’s interesting.”
Richard chuckled.“Yeah.The detective I spoke with discussed fraud, embezzlement, theft, and shoplifting. It seems that it’s just a matter of time before they’re all put away.”
“Good.I want to do everything I can to destroy them all.”
