By the time Mitch detached himself from his conversation and made his way toward her, Brent, Berkley, Kimber, and Amelia had left. Only a small handful of people remained, not a single one paying them any attention. When he was close enough, Lexie reached out and grabbed Mitch’s hand, tugging him into her. Not that it mattered if anyone saw them together. Berkley already knew about thisthingbetween them, but Lexie was a private person. And they were just getting started. She didn’t want or need to be broadcasting to the world that she was sleeping with a Warrior.

Well,hopefullysleeping with a Warrior.

Even if all she wanted from him was his dick—and tongue and teeth and lips and fingers—she preferred her sex life to stay between her and whoever was sharing her bed.

“Hey you,” he said, settling a hand high on her thigh, right where her leg curved up to her ass. His palm warmed her skin through her jeans, a sensation that worked its way up to her core and spread, adrenaline spiking her blood.

Good god. Even a simple touch from this man had her squirming.

“We should get out of here,” she told him, tired of dancing around how badly she wanted him.

“It’s my party,” Mitch said, a twinkle in those green eyes. “I can’t just leave.”

“Yes you can. We were interrupted last time, and that was weeks ago.”

“Someone is awfully needy,” he said, turning to survey the room, a small smile on those full lips.

“Are you trying to tell me you haven’t thought about that night at all?”

He leaned close, his lips brushing the shell of her ear, hot breath on her neck. “I have taken my hand to myself so many times replaying that night, Lexie.”

She smirked as goosebumps broke out across her skin. “Me too. So let’s get out of here!”

Mitch looked around as if weighing whether or not it would be safe to leave. The majority of people had cleared out, leaving only a few of his teammates and random women. “Okay.”

The second the word left his mouth, Lexie laced her fingers through his and practically sprinted for the door.

“For what it’s worth,” she said as she pulled him along, the feel of his palm against hers spreading warmth through her body, “I’ve only had two beers since we got here.” He shot her a questioning look, and she added, “I wanted to savor this, and I didn’t want to forget a single second.”

Mitch grinned at her. “Me too.”

When they reached the street, Mitch dug his key fob out of his pocket and pressed the unlock button, the lights on a big black Chevy Suburban flashing in front of them.

“This is a surprise,” Lexie said as she climbed into the plush leather passenger seat. “I always pegged you for a sports car kind of guy.”

Mitch started the vehicle and pulled away from the curb. “We live in Michigan, Lex. Not ideal for sports cars.”

“True, true,” she said, heart thumping harder at the use of a nickname.Lexiewas already a nickname, but the way he shortened it further had her wanting him to call her all kinds of things, if only to hear what they would sound like with his slight Southern accent. Hell, he could read her a grocery list and she’d be begging him for more. This was Mitch, the one guy in a long time that had captured her attention beyond a passing interest in getting him naked.

Not that she didn’t desperately want to get him naked, because she did.

“I moved around a lot as a kid, so I never even had my own car until I left for college,” she blurted. Lexie was never the type to babble, but the anticipation of what was to come made her itchy and had her volunteering up information she normally wouldn’t.

Mitch briefly glanced sideways at her. “Army brat?”

Lexie rolled her eyes. “I wish. My parents are venture capitalists, so we were constantly moving around to help launch whatever their latest startup was.”

“I assume that means they’re successful?” Mitch asked.

“Extremely. I never wanted for anything as a kid.”

Except love and affection.

“So you’re like loaded,” Mitch said.

“No,you’reloaded. My parents are loaded. I’m…well off. All of my money is my own, and I’ve worked my ass off for every penny.”

“What exactly do you do for a living, anyway?”
