Vilkurn nodded, as if none of this surprised him. “Good use of our safe word, kitten.” He patted my head when I corrected him.
“It’s a code word, Vil.”
Tarn coughed something that sounded like “kinky code,” so I shot him a quelling look.
“Hmmm, a code word now, is it?” Vilkurn hummed. “Then we’ll need to find a new word or two for our dungeon time.”
Axe smirked and signed something I missed.
Lorn interrupted them. “How long have you been here?”
“I arrived a few hours after Milian, but it took some doing to get into the castle unseen. They’re in the tunnels.”
Axe frowned. “Is Rigol alive?”
“Barely. Selene has been torturing him for days.”
I stifled a gasp. Of course, she had been. She was evil to her rotten core. My feet itched to run to Rigol and tear him away from her.
Tarn frowned. “Are you certain our men are in Turino, as we were told?”
“Most of them. Only a few deserted. Some are in nearby villages. We have more than half the standing forces in the city, though.” Vilkurn smirked. “Many of them waiting patiently in brothels. Apparently, our kitten’s friends at the Sow used their considerable influence to convince some of those contemplating desertion to stick close.”
“I’ll give my friends some of the rocks you gave me, Vil.” I squeezed my eyebrows together, looking stern. “You didn’t tell me they were diamonds.”
“They reminded me of your sparkling eyes,” he said, stopping to kiss me quickly. “Who else would I give jewels to, brave little kitten?”
I decided to wait and tell him about the ones Mischief had lost later. I held my hands up, and he lifted me to his face so I could kiss him properly. “Thank you for saving the Omegas, Vilkurn. Remember what I told you would happen the next time I saw you?”
“You’d torture me for a change?” He waggled his eyebrows. “I’m not sure we have time for such things, love. We need to free Rigol.”
Axe signed. “No, she’s right. You should take this time with her. We have her gifts, and you may need them, too. I’ll go back into the tunnels and leave some surprises for the Verdanians.”
“No!” I shouted. “You’ll get hurt!”
“I’ll be fine.”He pulled me away from Vilkurn and kissed me until I couldn’t remember what I had been afraid of.
“Be careful,” Tarn said as Axe wedged himself back through the wall.
“I healed him when we… you know,” I said. “I hope he got the invulnerability to arrows thing, too.”
Vilkurn nodded calmly and carried me to the mattress. “Axe will be fine, kitten. Would you give me your gifts? I don’t have time to torture them out of you—”
I stopped his words with a kiss. “Waiting for you was the torture. Let’s do the fun part now.” He lowered me to the mattress and slowly removed my clothing, then his own.
I had never seen him without a shirt. The sight that greeted me now sent a flush to my cheeks and started a throbbing in my core. He was lean and honed, every muscle clearly defined. There wasn’t an inch of his form that spoke of softness, except for the amber gleam in his eyes. I swallowed as he leaned back and allowed my perusal, waiting patiently for me to see all of him.
The dark hair sprinkled sparsely on his chest grew thicker as it traced a trail over his sculpted abdominals and arrowed down to the cock jutting out proudly below. I licked my lips as I stared at his engorged flesh, the knot at the base already beginning to swell. He wasn’t nearly as large as Axe there, but almost as long, and the memory of his taste made my mouth water. Mint and musk.
Suddenly, I was very hungry.
Vilkurn let out a soft groan, his muscles twitching as he held still.
“Vil, you’re beautiful.”
The corners of his mouth turned up the smallest bit as he spoke. “I never saw beauty until I saw you. I lived a life filled with all the worst aspects of humanity: pain, bloodshed, secrets, evil. Every day, I lost more faith. And then you tumbled into my life like a sunbeam. Full of innocence and honest desire. And now, you offer all of that to me, a man with hands stained with the blood of so many…”
“Honorable hands that did the work that needed to be done to protect.” I rolled over on top of him, relishing the slide of his warm body on mine, pressing kisses to those rough hands. “I love these hands, Vil. They saved me. They saved my friends.” I peeked up at the top of the mattress. “But now I want these hands to grab the edges of this mattress and stay completely still. I’m going to give you a gift or two.” I licked a line up the side of his neck as he obeyed my command, grabbing the bedclothes by his head.
