“Then it looks like I’ll have to be here all the time to fix it.” Augustus grinned, taking a drink of his beer.

“Speaking of, how do you deal with a girl not wanting anything to do with you?” Finn asked.

“Why? You have someone in your life now?”

Finn sighed. “Something like that. She’s been fucking ignoring me since I said we were dating.”

“You asked or you said?” Augustus asked, his brow cocked.

“Are you supposed to ask? I thought it was just like a statement type of thing.”

“Dumbass, have you even gone on a date? Been romantic at all?” Augustus asked.

“Why are you asking these questions like it’s something I should have fucking known? Seems to me like you don’t practice what you preach,” he said, getting defensive.

“Me and Cecilia are different.” It was left at that. “Who is the girl?”

“I don’t know if I should tell you,” Finn said, scratching his chin.

Augustus shrugged. “I have cameras all around this house, so I know exactly who it is. I was just giving you a chance to tell me yourself.”

Finn waited for some kind of panic or worry to hit him, but neither came. Instead, he nodded his head, making a mental note to find where all those cameras were and to get rid of them. At least any that were obviously harmful to him.

“And what?”

Augustus snorted. “That’s all you have to say? I just told you that I know you’re fucking Gianna Moretti and you’re acting that calm?” He shook his head. “The old you would’ve been strangling me by now.”

“I know you won’t say shit because one word and I’ll let Cecilia know that you have cameras watching her,” he said.

That seemed to do it because Augustus held his hands up in surrender. “You got me there. Seriously though, do you know what you’re getting yourself into? She’s high maintenance, dramatic, and seems like everything you wouldn’t fucking want. How did this even happen?”

Maybe Finn had changed because he felt his blood boiling when Augustus went on and on about Gianna in that way. “It happened because it happened.”

“Wise words.”

“Fuck off.”

“Whatever, man. Maybe if you’re dating Gianna, Cecilia will want to do double dates or something,” Augustus suggested.

Finn let out a loud laugh. “Did you forget that they both hate us?”

“That’s what they say,” he said, drinking the rest of his beer. “That doesn’t last forever.”

He really hoped it didn’t because it felt like he was already starting to lose his mind without seeing Gianna. He couldn’t even have a simple conversation without it revolving around her. She bulldozed her way in, left her mark, and then tried to leave just like that.

Unfortunately for her, that didn’t work for Finn. He hadn’t had a reason to stick around before. To settle down and actually create a life for himself in the place where it felt like he was haunted by the reminders of his past. But now he did. Suddenly, he had a reason to stay, he had people in his life he would miss too much.

So, try as she might, but he wasn’t going anywhere.

And dare he say, he was finally getting everything his father told him he would never have.

NINETEEN

FINN

One whole week.It had been one whole week since Finn had seen Gianna. She ran to her room or surrounded herself with her best friends and brother any chance she got to avoid being around him. If he was worse, he would have simply thrown her over his shoulder and left, but as it stood, most of them still hated him so that would not have gone over well with anyone.

Actually, he didn’t know where his relationship with Allister stood. They never really talked. Mostly because he was up Valerio’s ass and Finn couldn’t have cared less what the loser was doing before. Maybe he needed to care more now. Gianna would want him to have a good relationship with Allister if they ever went public with their relationship.
