“What was that for? How about you tell me why the fuck my sister knew to come look for you? Why she ditched her fucking classes today to come find your scum ass?” Allister hissed. He sent out another punch, but this time Finn blocked it.

“Allister, stop,” Gianna screamed, trying to jump between them but Dante grabbed her before she could. “Let go of me. You’re overreacting for no reason.”

“Am I? Then why did you go look for him? How did you know where he would be?” Allister asked, this time turning to face her.

The opening was the perfect chance to pounce on him, but Valerio held his gun up, keeping it trained on Finn. “Not one step,” Valerio said.

“What? You’re just letting this happen?” Finn asked, but this time he directed the question to his sister who sat there with wide eyes.

“I’m trying to understand what’s going on,” she said.

“We’re friendly, okay? After Luna called Blair and mentioned he was missing, I went out to look because he mentioned some places to me. Why? Because we’re friends. We live in the samehouse. Nothing has ever happened between us,” Gianna said. The lies fell out of her mouth effortlessly, but still Allister didn’t believe her.

Annoyance swept through Finn. Why the fuck was she lying? Now was the perfect chance for her to admit the truth. She cared about him, he cared about her, who gave a fuck about these idiots and what they thought about the relationship? He sure as hell didn’t.

“And I’m just supposed to believe that?” Allister asked, stalking closer to her. His eyes searched for the lie, but it seemed like Gianna had perfected it with the way her eyes hardened.

“It’s the truth. Ask the girls. I would never be with someone like him,” Gianna said.

She didn’t bother looking over at him when the words left her mouth. It was probably better she didn’t. The anger and the betrayal that swept through him was clear on his face. She was allowed to be scared, she was allowed to have reservations, but what she did was something Finn would never have done to her.

After everything he went through today, he couldn’t believe it. Maybe it was the worst day of his life.

That answer seemed to appease everyone in the room. Allister’s shoulders fell back, Dante let go of Gianna, Valerio put down his gun, and even Luna seemed somewhat relieved. They all were happy to know that the fuck up known as Finn Kingsley hadn’t gotten his hands anywhere near the perfect Gianna Moretti.

Everyone except Cecilia and Augustus did, at least. They seemed to be the only ones who knew about the relationship, how good it was, how fucking pure and perfect it was. Now it was being tarnished in the blink of an eye to protect her reputation.

To protect her brother’s feelings.

To protect her best friend’s feelings.

Well, fuck that.

“Nice job, Gianna. You’re such a good liar you almost had me convinced. Too bad I still remember the taste of your sweet pussy, or let’s not forget how hard you rode me when you got jealous at the thought of me being with someone else, princess,” Finn said with a sick grin.

Every word cleared through the room, leaving behind a clean silence. Gianna’s mouth dropped open in horror, and satisfaction filled him.

“You weren’t just with someone like me—you let me claim you as mine, over and over and over again,” he said, making sure she heard every single word. “I don’t blame you. I loved it, just like you did. Isn’t that right, princess?”

Gianna’s eyes widening was the last thing Finn saw before a sharp hit came from the back of his head, and all he saw was black.

THIRTY-SIX

GIANNA

Once Finn fellunconscious from Valerio’s hit to the head with his gun, the tension was unbearable in the room. Gianna wanted it to swallow her whole. She was sick to her stomach seeing him lying on the ground and for betraying him the way she had. Now, three people she cared about hated her. She had ruined everything.

Allister stared at the ground, and she was scared to know what he was thinking about. No doubt he was putting things together, getting to the bottom of whatever it was that he thought was going on. The cat was out of the bag now, and even if Gianna tried to lie her way out, there was no way anyone would believe her.

She could thank Finn for that.

“Allister?” she called out gently.

He raised his head, locking eyes with her. The usual warm blue of his eyes was now an icy shade of grey. He was the one that was logical and could see reason, but on the rare occasions when he lost it, he became someone completely unrecognizable.

“You lied to me,” were the first words out of his mouth.

Gianna shook her head frantically. “I didn’t want to lie. I wanted to tell you everything.”
