Was tonight another single’s night?
I pulled out my phone and checked the dates, confirming it. Yep, single’s night. Darn it. I usually signed up for these events, but I didn’t remember signing up for the one tonight. Bummer. The best part of these was that if you signed up, you were paired with a Dom, so you didn’t have to do the whole thing where you had to meet them first and talk to them.
Damn Doms always wanted to know too much. I’d take on an angry, 1200 pound mare over a 200 pound Dom any day. Mares could be feisty as hell, but they wouldn’t stare into your eyes so hard you couldn’t breathe. They didn’t try to read the secrets you wanted to forget.
I crossed my fingers that maybe I’d signed up and forgotten. It was my only chance of playing with Logan tonight. There was no way he’d scene with me otherwise, based on the way my last few visits to Blackstone had gone.
I pulled the heavy black door toward me and stepped into the rush of warm air. The Doms took turns covering check-ins, and tonight Luke was sitting at the front desk. I’d been paired with him once at single’s night, too.
The tall, lean man nodded at me as I walked toward him. “Hi, Savannah.”
“Hi, Sir. Did I sign up for the single’s night tonight?” I chewed on my lower lip as Luke picked up a tablet and scrolled through it with a frown.
“Doesn’t look like it, honey. I’d add you in, but everyone is paired up, and Drew just left. Not sure who’s running it tonight.”
Huh. Drew ran the tightest ship possible here at the club. He was a master of control, and a damn good Dom, from what I’d heard, but he was too intense for me. I shivered, thinking of the man’s dark stare. He’d left the club before a single’s night? This sounded like a good story.
I shrugged, giving Luke a small smile. “No big deal, Sir. Thanks.”
“No problem. Have fun in there.”
I left my shoes and purse in a locker before I moved into the main play area. The number of cars in the lot had been a good clue—there were alotof people here tonight. I looked around for Emma.
I didn’t see Emma, but Avery was there, sitting on a couch. She’d joined the club not long after I had, and had found her Dom—and fiancé—almost immediately after she’d joined.
Yeah, I was a little jealous.
Avery was curled in the arms of Brax, her Dom. She made eye contact and smiled. I made my way through the crowds to where they were cuddled up on the couch.
I gave them a small wave as I approached. “Hey, Avery, hi Sir! Where is everyone?”
Avery pivoted slightly away from Brax to look at me. “Well, no one has seen Emma tonight. Drew just stormed out of here after putting Cody in charge of singles night. Remember how tight-lipped Emma was about things with Drew when we talked on Thursday? Sounds like there’s something there.” She wiggled her eyebrows.
Brax frowned at Avery’s gossip. “Best leave that up to them, darlin’. Not your relationship to discuss.”
Avery sighed. “Sorry, Sir. Anyway, Emma’s not here. Lexie and Kaylee are over there,” she said, gesturing to the other side of the room. “I think Paige was supposed to help at the bar tonight.”
I glanced over to the bar. Paige was setting a pair of drinks in front of a couple. “Sounds good. I’m going to grab a drink. I’ll catch you guys later.” I scooted away before Brax decided to lecture me on drinking before a scene.
The bar stools swiveled all the way around, so as I waited for Paige, I twirled back and forth to check out what was going on. When Paige glanced my way, I waved at her.
She sauntered toward me, wiping a glass with a cloth in her hand. “Hey, girl! What can I get you?”
“Rum and Diet Coke, please. How’s the night going?”
Paige shrugged. “Good, I suppose. I’m stuck at the bar instead of doing singles night, but we all have to take a turn. Let me grab your drink.”
Paige turned her back to me while she made the drink, and I looked toward the main play area. Cody seemed to be doing a good job of taking over for Drew. From the crowd around him, it looked like he’d gathered the single’s night participants and was beginning to assign partners. I watched as each Dom stepped forward, and was joined by a sub from the group seated on the floor.
I studied the gathered Doms. Logan wasn’t with them. Wasn’t he participating tonight? I looked at the couples that had been paired off already, but didn’t see him there either. Maybe it was good that I hadn’t signed up, then. He was the only one I wanted to scene with.
“Here you go, love.” A familiar deep voice came from behind me, startling me, and I whirled around on the barstool so fast that I almost slid off.
Logan was standing behind the bar, sliding a cocktail toward me.
He frowned, probably at the fact that I’d almost fallen off my chair, even before having a drink. “Careful, love. You sure a drink is the best idea?”
The familiar heat rose in my face. Dammit, why did my face do this? My pale skin blushed way too easily. The curse of the Irish, or something. I nodded, reaching out to take the drink from Logan.
