“So, are you and Logan a thing now?” Emma asked.

I blushed. “Umm… we’ll see. For now, I’m helping with the mare when she goes into labor. But Logan and I have been… talking.”

“Ooooooh, talking, huh? That’s what the kids are calling it these days?” Emma teased.

I giggled. “I’ll let you know when there’s something to tell.” I turned to Avery, changing the subject. “So, girl, wedding plans. We have to get these hammered out before Emma moves! So what are you thinking? Any ideas?”

Avery smiled, twisting her engagement ring around her finger. “Well, I definitely need everyone’s input. But since we’re getting married in the summer, I was thinking about the Botanical Gardens.”

“Oh my goodness! Yes. That will be perfect!” Kaylee squealed. “Colors? Flowers?”

“Blues and purples, I think, for the flowers. I’m thinking like a super light blue for the dresses, maybe. What do you all think? You’re the ones who are going to be wearing it!”

Blue sounded amazing to me. “Oh, yes, please. I’m so tired of pink dresses for weddings. It looks terrible with my hair. Blue will look so good on everyone!” I gestured at Emma. “Emma’s eyes will totally pop.”

“And remember, something borrowed and something blue. It’ll work out so good!” Alex chimed in.

As we went down the rabbit hole of wedding planning, a thought struck me. “Hey, do we have to bring dates? Or do we all get to sit together at the reception?” I mentally crossed my fingers that we’d have a girls’ table.

Avery pursed her lips to the side, thinking. “I think we can kind of do both. Like, you’ll all get to bring a plus one if you want, of course, but you don’t have to. A lot of the guys will be invited anyway, since they’re friends with Brax. And there will be plenty of single ones, too, just in case!” She beamed, looking at Kaylee and Alex.

Kaylee shrugged, giving a half smile. “Eh, we’ll see. My luck hasn’t been so good lately. I’ve just been lucky to find play partners for one night at a time.”

“Hey, every day is a new day. And you never know how things might end up, right?” Emma pointed out.

“True, true. How’s the moving going? We’re going to miss you around here!” Kaylee turned the conversation to Emma, who was getting ready to move for her job.

“Going good, more or less. They keep hinting that the position based in Denver might be available in the future, but no one will commit to timing. So for now we’re going to find a rental and hang on to my house here. We’ll rent it out. Drew knows a lot about renting, since he owns all of those rental properties. I’m letting him handle most of it.”

“Oh, I hope you end up back here!” I let out a dramatic sigh, giving Emma a side hug. “Things won’t be the same without you. You’re like our social director.”

Two hours later we’d planned Avery’s wedding, devised a plan to make sure Emma moved back to Denver, and run through a list of the single Doms at Blackstone, debating which ones would match best with the remaining single girls.

Kaylee and I headed into the kitchen to refill the drinks. Coffee for Emma, Alex and Avery, Diet Coke for me, water for Kaylee.

I looked back at Kaylee as I opened the refrigerator. “How do you stay upright without caffeine, girl? It’s criminal!” I stepped back, the water pitcher in hand, and nearly bumped into Logan, who was entering the kitchen from the mud room. “Hi! How are things out there?”

Logan smiled, gesturing behind him to a tall, dark-haired man who must be the vet. “It’s good. Dr. Vaughn was just checking on Lena. He thinks she’ll go into labor any day now.”

I clapped my hands. “Oh, that’s so exciting!” I turned to the vet. “We’ll be ready for it. Anything you think we need to get for her before then, Doc?”

He shook his head, smiling. “Ben, please. You must be Savannah. Logan was telling me you have a lot of experience with horses. Glad to have you here to help.” He paused, then looked over my shoulder to where Kaylee was holding two mugs. “Hi, there. I’m Ben. You one of Savannah’s friends?”

Kaylee said nothing, so I spoke up. “This is Kaylee.” I nudged her with my hip.

Kaylee jumped slightly. “Um, yeah. I’m Kaylee. Nice to meet you,” she said softly.

Ben smiled, then turned to Logan. “I’ll be around. Let me know when Lena goes into labor. I’m going to check on one more thing with her, then I’ll head out. I’ll call you later to check in.” He nodded to Kaylee and me, then headed back out the mudroom door.

I whirled around to face Kaylee as soon as the door shut. “Oh my goodness, I think he liked you! Do you want his number? Logan can talk to him for you if you want.”

Logan cleared his throat. “Perhaps Kaylee would like to arrange her own relationships, love. Best you stay out of it.”

I rolled my eyes, on too much of a roll to stop. “But he’s so cute! We should get you two together. How can we find out if he’s a Dom?”

Kaylee’s eyes had gone wide. They were fixed on Logan.

He tilted his head toward the living room, sending Kaylee scurrying back there, and turned to me. “Sit. Stay there.” He pointed to a chair at the kitchen table.
