“Fucking peachy,” I grunt as he drops to his damn knees before me. Taron dramatically rolls his eyes, crossing his arms over his chest as he watches the other alpha fuss over me. As if he wasn’t just doing the exact same thing.
“You’re hurt. Do you need to go to the hospital?” He asks harshly, looking over my bandaged feet like he thinks one has just been amputated.
“She’s fine, hero. I cleaned the cuts and bandaged them already,” Taron sighs, shaking his head at his fellow alpha’s dramatics.
“Right.” Colter glares at Taron before looking up at me. “What happened? I saw the shattered glass and a trail of your blood.”
“I dropped some candles. I’m fine though. Like Taron said, he helped me.”Carried me up here like a damsel, to be exact.
“Can you walk? Here, I’ll just carry you to your bed.” Colter stands up, scooping me into his arms before I can protest. I’m honestly fine, this is excessive. Taron didn’t even need to carry me, but there’s no calming an alpha in protection mode.
“No, no! The shop is still open! At the very least, I need to go down there and clean up!” I yelp, struggling to be freed as Colter pauses.
“I’ll sit you in a chair, and then I’ll clean up the glass. You can supervise,” the firefighter says, as Taron follows us out. Silently.
“Or, you can just…leave. I’ll take care of everything. Alone,” I argue, feeling pitiful and a little pathetic. I want to suffer in peace, and I’m being kind of a bitch about it.
“No.” Colter shakes his head, and I watch over his shoulder as Taron rolls his eyes once again.
“She’s not a broken doll, hero. She can take care of herself,” Taron grumbles. Again, coming from the alpha that started this.
“Is that why you carried her upstairs and cleaned all her wounds for her before bandaging them up? Because she can take care of herself?” Colter snaps, not slowing his pace as he descends the stairs with me still in his arms.
I can’t help the way my body responds when I catch a third scent in the air. I whine, shivering in Colter’s arms as the scent of these three men all mixes together. What a delicious combination.
Colter’s smoked oak, clove, and leather. Taron’s bourbon smoke, pine, and autumn leaves. And Rhian’s apple cider, and honeyed hay. Fuck, the three of them all together is going to send me into a heat.
Why are they all here? Fuck, this isn’t good for my omega senses. Rhian’s head snaps up when we walk further into the shop, and I realize he’s cleaning up the glass mess that Taron and I left behind.
“Your scent…” Rhian grunts, but I ignore his words as I struggle to free myself from the alpha’s strong, reluctant grip. “What happened?” he asks with a frown, moving to grab me the chair that sits by the cash register, reading Colter’s mind, apparently.
“Thanks.” Colter nods to him as he sets me in the chair like a delicate doll. None of the cuts are serious, I doubt I’m even still bleeding at this point.
“I dropped some candles by accident. Thank you so much for cleaning it up, you really didn’t have to do that,” I say to Rhian, trying really hard to ignore the alphas still in the room.
“It’s no problem. I was coming by to check on you and give you these. To thank you for helping me after my fall.” Rhian grabs something from behind the counter, pulling out a bouquet of wild flowers. I gasp, surprised by the sweet gesture, accepting them easily as he hands them over. “I saw the mess, and the trail of blood… I could hear the others up there with you, so I figured I’d clean the mess up for you.” He shrugs like it’s no big deal.
“Well, thank you, I appreciate it. I wasn’t looking forward to trying to clean this up when these two won’t even let me walk,” I scoff, gesturing to the alphas with my thumb.
“Alphas,” he snorts, smirking. I giggle, glancing back at the men in question. I’m surprised to find both of them staring at us with this half-feral look in their eyes. When I glance back at Rhian, he’s blushing bright red, and swallows thickly.
Their scents grow heavy, spiking with musk, and my head gets a little hazy for a moment. What’s happening?
“I think you’re in good hands, Ghost. I’ll see you around,” Taron says after a long stretch of silence. “Rhian.” He nods at theother omega as he passes him, and I can’t look away from the two of them. Rhian’s sweet omega scent fills the air around us with need, and my eyebrows shoot up.
“Oh,” I whisper as I watch Taron walk out. Rhian clears his throat, focusing on me.
“Would you want to go on a date with me?” Rhian asks unexpectedly, and I stare for a long moment as my brain takes its time processing the words when I’m still stuck on the way he and Taron looked at each other.
“Me?” I finally squeak.Real cool, Sable.
“Of course, who else?” He chuckles, but I don’t miss the way he glances over to Colter, his cheeks turning pink.
“I should go too,” Colter grumbles, giving me whiplash. “I was just stopping by to say hi.” What is up with these alphas? Rushing in here and then running away at the sight of another omega. Is there something between the three of them? Oh shit, am I cock blocking? Wait, why would Rhian ask me on a date, then?
He said he was single though. Oh, hell. He probably just means as friends, and I’m taking this too far… Colter nods his goodbye, ducking out the front door without looking back.
“Okay, sure.” My heart beat quickens at the slow grin that slips across his face.
