“Should we take him up to Port Haven’s Hospital, Doc? The drive isn’t bad, so we can go if you think he needs it,” Nick asks from the other side of the tent. I can’t help but notice the way his eyes narrow on the distance between Colter and Rhian, or the glare he sends my way. Yikes….man can hold a grudge. Not sure what I did though, since Rhian is the one that ghosted me. Nick’s always been the type to defend his brothers, even when they’re the ones in the wrong though.

“No, I don’t think it’s that severe. I would suggest some rest and recovery in his nest, and some soothing alpha pheromones would help,” Walton says as he turns back to us, raising bushy eyebrows above inquisitive eyes as he squints at the two of us by Rhian. I forgot how much of a busy body he’s always been. “I’ll give him a light sedative, diazepam, that will help him sleep, and should ease quite a bit of his pain. I would suggest that someone stays with him, to monitor him for worsening symptoms. Making sure he can rouse easily, that sort of thing. But I don’t expect you’ll see anything.”

I turn back to Rhian, ready to argue that he should let us take him home, to find he’s already looking at me with a sparkle in his eyes.

“Ready to play nurse?” he wiggles his brows at me, wincing when it clearly hurts, and I can’t resist laughing at his antics.

Colter

The scent of the two omegas cuddled up on the bench seat of my truck as I drive along the road leading to his family home on the back side of the property has my alpha instincts going haywire. I’ve never spent a lot of time thinking about any other omegas but Sable, before today.

Rhian continues to poke at Sable and her lack of proper nurse attire, clearly feeling the effects of the medication. My cock thickens with the image that puts in my head, and I have to concentrate not to wreck my pickup.

“Come on, Sable. Just picture it. Tight white halter top with a red bow in the center. Little white skirt… Maybe some thigh highs…” he teases, and even though she scolds him, her scent thickens in the air, mixing with Rhian’s in the best kind of torture. My scent spikes with soothing pheromones, and I pray it does something to calm their raging hormones.

“Can it, Casanova. We’ll save the role play for when you’re less concussed.” Her green eyes sparkle when she meets my gaze in the glow of the truck’s cab. This is my payback for the cream comments. Fair. I deserve it.

Clenching the steering wheel, I cruise to a stop in front of the two-story farmhouse.

Soft amber light spills out onto the wraparound porch from tall windows, while twinkling fairy lights decorate the straw bale with pumpkins stacked by the door. The place hasn’t changed much in all the years I have known the brothers, though it’s clearly being taken care of better than it ever used to be.

Throwing open the door, I quickly slam it shut before rushing around to open the door for the omegas. Sable hops out first, stepping out of the way while leaving a soothing cloud of her pumpkin spice and caramel scent. I reach in and help Rhian who tries to refuse me, until I start growling. Letting him lean against my body, I lift him in my arms and Sable shuts the door. Sucking in a lungful of their combined fall scents has my body ready tohide them away in a nest. I turn toward the house, and we make our way up the stone path.

“My keys are in my left pocket” Rhian mumbles as we walk forward. When we step onto the porch, Sable reaches in and pulls out the keys, causing the omega in my arms to groan at the contact. She is smirking when she turns away to unlock the door.

A few years ago, I was prescribed the same meds for a panic attack after mom passed. They made me a little loopy, and lowered my inhibitions. So I can imagine exactly how Rhian is feeling right now. I’m just glad he’s not in pain anymore.

“What would you like to do, omega?" I ask as we shuffle through the door. “Sable and I can help you up to your nest, or we could rest on the couch together?” A part of me secretly hopes he asks us to join him in his nest, but even if he did, nothing would happen between us until the medications wore off. And despite the very sexy nurse picture he’s been painting in our minds of Sable, he’s injured.

Rhian is hurt and in need of comfort, not a knot. Plus, there hasn’t been any indication from Sable on whether she’ll let me back into her life as more than friends. Her stunning green-eyed gaze catches mine, worrying her bottom lip as she frets in the entryway. Fuck, I want to taste that lip…Now is not the time.Nothing wrong with thinking about it though, I suppose. I just need to focus.

“My room. Big bed. TV. It’s cozy and has my favorite blankets,” the omega answers as he points at the stairs. “Nest is kinda small. Just a closet, really,” he mumbles, and I nod, carrying him in the direction he pointed, and up the stairs.

As we walk through the house, I see the den. It’s changed a lot since I saw it as a teen for a football game after party.

The den has a large stone fireplace and a huge tan sectional couch that's been pushed to resemble a big nest. Faint traces of Nick and Benny are in here, but the predominant smell is thehoneyed hay, apple cider, and cinnamon bark of the omega in my arms.

I keep moving past it, and head into the door he’d pointed at, and Sable pushes it open for us.

There’s a pretty big bed against the left corner of the wall, and his TV is mounted across from it on the right. It’s neatly made, and I wonder if that's the way he likes it, since omegas tend to enjoy a messier set up for their beds and nests.

There’s also a small love seat with a coffee table in front of it, and a small desk and chair tucked into the free corner. There’s a dresser against the wall at the end of his bed, and a door that must be his closet. Is that where his nest is? Where does Sable keep her nest, I wonder?

I help Rhian over the armrest of the couch, leaning down to get him comfortable against the side. Sable is already at his feet, tugging off his boots and laughing as she makes a pile of discarded hay.

“It was a cute costume but hella messy, sir,” she laughs as she stands up. Sable untucks the witch’s hat, and unclips the crow perched on her shoulder, placing everything to the side of the tan couch. When she looks up at Rhian, she hesitates before asking if he’d like to change out of the no doubt itchy costume.

“Top two drawers. Why don’t you grab something more comfortable for us both to change into?” he says, pointing at the mentioned dresser. Sable looks perfectly comfortable in her leggings, so I already know he just wants her in his scent. I can’t blame him. “I would offer you something, Colter, but I don’t think they would look as good on you as they will on Sable,” he says in a laugh as my gaze snaps to him. “A little too tight, hmm?”

“No, I would imagine not.” I smirk as his cheeks begin to turn pink under my attention.

“I’ll just go use the restroom real fast,” Sable murmurs, rushing out of the room on quick feet, and I chuckle. This is probably the first time she’s been up here since we were teens, but she clearly remembers her way around.

Sitting down at the open end of the couch, I lean down to unlace my boots.

“You still like her.” There isn’t a question when he speaks. My shoulder’s tense before I turn to look at him. He lounges against the couch, hooded eyes meeting mine, and I decide to be honest. He’s definitely going to remember all of this tomorrow, since his concussion isn’t that bad, and the meds aren’t that strong. But what's the harm in honesty?

“I do. I more thanjustlike her.” I nod, turning to face him with my full body, my scent spiking with my pheromones. My desire is obvious, but I can’t help myself. “Seeing the way she cared for you. How worried she was… The way my instincts reacted to the sight of you injured.” I shrug one shoulder, watching him closely, preparing myself for rejection. “I don’t think Sable is the only omega I want.” I’m being bold with the confession. More than I intended, given the circumstances.
