I can feel the shock coming off the twins and Ethan at Reaper’s words, but I don’t take my sight off the forest.

“Thank fuck you two are on our side then. Are you sure you both are okay with this?”

He doesn’t say it, but I know he means if we’re okay with drawing blood and possibly even killing someone.

“They hurt Mae,”Miracle and I both growl out at the same time.

“The club is my family, both clubs, and those fuckers hurt Mae. We take care of our own.”

“Same, sister,”Miracle replies.

“Alright. Miracle, team up with Lex. Sasha, team up with Lark. I’m sending Drae up to take Ethan’s place. If the numbers of tangos change, let us know and switch positions as needed, but fucking stay safe,”Thor says, practically growling those last words.

“We’ll do our best. Stay safe,”I reply and then grit my teeth.“They’re on the move.”

Chapter 53

Reaper

Icurseundermybreath and shake my head as Lark’s voice comes over the line that she has movement. Thor cocks his eyebrow at me and I shake my head again. I had no idea she was going to do this, but I’m betting this is one of those split-second decisions that Mama C told me about. Thor’s fucking livid, and while I know his anger is directed at the assholes attacking us, I have a feeling that there will be a conversation with Lark later as well.

“Alright. Let’s split up. Some of us stay here on the main floor. Barricade the doors and take your stations. The rest of us, head upstairs and take your vantage points,” Thor tells us.

I head up to the third floor and walk down to the hallway to the room I always use when I’m here. The perks of being a President is that no one else has been allowed to use it, so I’ve always kept a few things stocked here as a just in case. I should probably have Lark leave a few things here as well now that I think of it. At the thought of her, I glance up, praying she stays safe. I hate thefact that she’s in danger because of the position she’s in. On the other hand, I’m proud as fuck of her.

Unlocking my door, I shut it and lock it behind me to keep someone from sneaking up on me. I quickly cross the room and lean against the wall as I carefully peek out the window. Mentally, I try and orient myself and realize the windows in this room face east.

The same direction Lark’s facing.

I attach my silencer and then pat myself down, triple checking the extra clips are still there. I do another quick peek out the window and take a deep breath. Reaching out, I unlock the window before yanking my hand back out of sight. I hold my breath, waiting to see if they clocked the motion. After a few moments of nothing, I inch the window open until I have enough of a clearance.

“Remember, do not be the first to shoot in this wave. I know they already struck first, but do not get trigger happy just yet. If this fiasco brings the cops here, which it probably will, we need to be able to prove we acted in defense.”

I take a deep breath at Thor’s words and with one last prayer that Lark stays safe, I shut myself down emotionally. All of my brothers and sisters are trained and no one is a slouch in the accuracy department. Even our Prospects are required to spend a lot of time at the gun range, though none of them were beginners when they came here. I have to trust that none of them will take unnecessary risks.

The sound of breaking glass rings out and my muscles tense. Did someone throw something inside the clubhouse? Or is someone trying to break in. Then I hear more glass breaking.

“Smoke bomb was thrown through my window. Threw it back out.”Axe coughs and then it becomes muted like he’s covered his mic.“Finding another vantage point. Shutting thedoor to slow down the smoke spreading further. Is someone that’s secreted away have a com in?”

“Affirmative,”Levi replies.“If they throw more at us, we’ll let you know if we notice the smoke or anything else down here. We’re also watching the feeds. So far, nothings come over the scanner from the shots earlier.”

“Incoming,”Lark’s voice comes over the line.“Four tangos approaching the clubhouse with something in their hands. Do we engage?”

I curse as I look out the window, trying to see what they could be carrying. Fuck…“Looks like it could be Molotov cocktails or something similar.”

Curses ring out over the line.

“Thor?”Lark asks again, her voice urgent and with a hard edge to it.

“Snipers, take the shots.”

Squatting, I get into position but don’t fully step out in front of the window. I watch the two tangos that I can see. A second later, I hear muffled shots and then the men are on the ground as they clutch at their shoulders. I grunt in approval. They hit the arms that had been holding the bottles with rags sticking out of the top, which is most likely their dominant arms.

“Give us the women and children and you can live!” someone shouts from the distance.

Multiple growls come over the line, mingling with my own, and I grit my teeth. There’s no way any of us would hand over a woman or a child to one of those fuckers.

In response, I see puffs of snow billow up in the air in front of some of the tree trunks in the distance and I grin, knowing at least one of those came from Lark.
