“Are you my boyfriend?” Pen giggles when I finally get her into the truck. Apparently, the girls’ night had been a lot morespiritedthan the couple of beers we had at the bar.
“Do you want me to be your boyfriend?” I ask, half teasing and half wondering what the hell it is she thinks we’re doing.
“I told Wren and Reid we’re dating.” She snickers. “Wren andReidsounds so funny but not as funny as Wren andPen.” She snort laughs, bumping into the console as she sways to the side.
My eyes widen as I look at her before turning my gaze back toward the road. In all the time I’ve known Pen, I don’t think I’ve ever seen her tipsy, and she’s well past that.
“Did you eat anything?”
“So many snacks,” she confirms, her hand landing on my thigh and making me hit the accelerator harder than I intended, causing the engine to rev.
“Jesus, Baby, how much did you have to drink?”
“Honestly not that much but I justfeelgood, you know? I feel happy and like I can actually belong here in Wintervale and not just because I was so desperate to come back. It all just made me realize how much I’ve missed out on.”
“Remind me to thank my sister,” I murmur, not bothering to hide my amusement.
“And Reid.” She squeezes my thigh, in time with her exclamation. “Oh! And I met Harlan—like really met him not just like when I passed by him at the lodge. They are adorable. He’ssogrumpy and Reid just melted his heart.”
Sighing dreamily, she flops back against her seat as I pull up the road and turn into my driveway.
“I’m glad you had a good time, and yeah, they’re good for each other. It’s nice to see my cousin so damn happy.” I pause. “And it’s a good thing considering I had to hold Beau back when they had their little breakup.”
Pen nods. “I can see that.”
“What? Really? He surprised the hell out of all of us when he got up in Harlan’s face.”
“But he’s always been protective.” She shrugs. “He’s got that hot older brother thing going for him.”
Throwing the truck in park, I turn to face her, bracing my forearm on the steering wheel. “You want to rephrase that?”
“Nope.” She pops thep, her eyes wide and full of pretend innocence that has my blood pumping south, her pouty pink lips so damn kissable and hell, I want a taste. “I have eyeballs, Lake. Ilove youbut I can still see your brother is hot.”
Growling, I fist my hand in her hair and pull her toward me, our mouths crashing in a fiery kiss full of tongues and teeth and so much need, I can barely breathe.
“I need to get you inside.”
“It’s too far,” she moans as I kiss my way down her throat. “Besides,” she pants, “I’ve never done it in a car before.”
“What?” I ask, my brain taking a minute to process that statement.
“Isn’t it fun?”
“I mean,” I manage as her hand grips my cock through my jeans, “when you’re young it’s about the thrill and you sacrifice comfort because you just want to get naked. But,”—I glance at the house—“I can have you naked and sprawled out on my bed in like sixty seconds.”
“Please?” The word is a seductive purr as her hand rubs me again. “You get to be my first.”
Something about the way she saysmy firsthas me slamming my finger against the button on my seatbelt as I wrestle my arms out of my jacket.
“Get in the back.”
Pen squeals, ditching her coat and boots before shimmying into the backseat while I climb out of the driver’s side and then slide in next to her.
“How come you didn’t climb back?”
“Because I’m too big and old to get stuck.”
My knees hit the back of the driver’s seat and I silently curse myself for not moving it up before I got out. I don’t have long to dwell on it though before Pen is crawling toward me, careful to duck her head as she straddles my lap.
