They burst into a clearing near the stream and the aircraft above illuminated the grassy field. Torin spotted two figures wrestling on the ground. Kenna’s familiar scent reached him, as well as the foreign scent of a strange human male. It appeared she hadn’t run off, after all. His blood pumped hot with anger that this stranger had dared to touch the sweet little girl who belonged to hiszoshin.

He rushed into the fray with his brothers, all of them releasing a fierce battle cry that echoed through the mountains.

Chapter Eighteen

Makenna

She awoke to a hand over her mouth and immediately began to struggle. Fear clutched Makenna when the cold blue eyes of Emmitt Fucking Henderson met hers. She fought harder, only for him to replace his hand with thick sturdy tape. Her stomach flipped. She wouldn’t be able to scream for her daddies. But perhaps she could knock something over or make some other kind of noise.

She tried to knock over the lamp beside the bed, but Emmitt dragged her away from it and flipped her over onto her stomach, securing her hands behind her back with some kind of quick-tie restraint that dug harshly into her wrists. She tried to scream behind the tape, but she didn’t succeed in making much noise.

“Fucking bitch,” Emmitt said into her ear. “Fucking alien whore. I followed your buyers and witnessed the whole sick scene on the terrace.” He shoved a hand between her thighs and squeezed. “This sore?” he asked in a mocking tone. “I bet it is after you took all six of them numerous times.”

Disbelief mingled with her fear. She’d never liked Emmitt and thought him rude at times, but she’d never imagined he had such a dark side. He withdrew his hand from her crotch and turned her over, then hit her on the side of the head. Hard. She lost consciousness for at least a minute. Or maybe longer. She wasn’t sure. But when she roused to awareness again, she was slung over his shoulder while he climbed down the side of the house, using the large spaces between the stones for footing.

“Make a move and we both fall, bitch,” he whispered.

She dared not move. At least while he was climbing. Once he reached the ground though, she fought with all her might to escape him. He hit her again and dragged her into the forest.

As he forced her away from the house, he regaled her with the story of how he’d located her. Emmitt had always liked to brag and he seemed quite proud of himself for tracking her down through a wormhole.

“Once I found you missing from your room, I began my search at the Interstellar Port. Spoiled brat that you are, I figured you were trying to join your friends. When I couldn’t locate you on any of the vessels headed for Phennulos, I started reviewing the security footage of the landing strip. The ISA and all the security guards there are morons. They missed you sneaking aboard a Khanndoran war vessel, but I found you on the screens, stupid bitch entering the cargo hold of a ship you must have thought was headed for the party planet.”

She glared at him and mentally cursed him out in every language she knew. He chuckled and tightened his grip on her arms as he dragged her toward a rushing river. Once he took his eyes off her and continued bragging, she tried to push the tape off her mouth using her tongue. If she managed to break the seal, perhaps she could scream loud enough to alert her daddies.

“All the tourist vessels destined for Khanndora had already left, but I was able to commission a private tourist vessel at the last minute and we made it to the wormhole just before it closed. Your father’s money sure can talk. Traveling to Khanndora isn’t easy for a tourist, you need so many fucking approvals. You should have seen the faces of those pilots when I offered them fifty million for a quick, private trip to Khanndora. They forged my tourist visa quicker than you could believe and gave me the largest quarters on their ship. Had a quick chat with your father as we left the solar system and he’s pissed as hell. I personally hope he beats the shit out of you. Long time coming if you ask me.”

Makenna finally broke the seal of the tape. Rather than screaming right away, she said, “I’ve been sentenced to remain with thiszoshinfor a year, you idiot, and the wormhole to Earth doesn’t open for six months. How the fuck do you plan to hide me for six months? Myzoshinwill come for me. They will.” She hoped she spoke the truth. What if hours passed before they realized she was missing? Her heart lurched at the prospect of never seeing them again.

Emmitt grabbed the back of her neck and squeezed her painfully. “I’m paying the same tourism pilots who brought me here to help me hide you. They’re waiting a short walk down the river. If we don’t get caught, they get another fifty million.”

She winced at the cuts on her bare feet from being dragged through the underbrush as he settled a menacing stare on her. Her body ached from her ordeal and she had a blinding headache too. Knowing she wouldn’t be able to reason with him—he was a total dick who apparently had a chip on his shoulder against women—she opened her mouth and screamed as loud as she could.

He snarled and released his hold on her, then slapped her across the face. She fell to the ground so hard the wind was knocked out of her. As she struggled for breath, she tried to kick Emmitt, but he soon had her pinned down. He cursed at her as he slapped at her and pulled on her hair. He tried to replace the tape on her mouth, but she wouldn’t hold her head still long enough for him to manage. She finally drew enough breath to scream again.

What happened next was a blur. A fierce roar echoed through the trees. At first Makenna thought it was a wild animal—some sort of wildcat or a bear, perhaps—but the lights of an aircraft appeared overhead and she squinted at the tree line as four massive figures emerged. Another roar soon followed.

Daddy Torin barreled toward them and grabbed Emmitt by his throat, lifting him up. Still holding the over-glorified guard by his throat, her alpha daddy moved out of her line of sight. She was too lightheaded from all the hits to her head to turn and watch the rest of the fight. Daddies Zane, Vilad, and Nagen soon crowded around her, checking her for injuries and inquiring how she felt. Her heart lifted to see them and relief coursed through her.

Safe. She was safe now.

After Daddy Zane cut the ties on her wrists, Daddy Nagen scooped her up in his arms and carried her to the aircraft that had just landed in the clearing. Just before he carried her up the ramp, she heard a sickening crunching sound behind her followed by a huge splash. She didn’t have to look to know Emmitt was dead and floating down the river.

Once they got her onto the aircraft, Daddy Vilad retrieved an emergency medical kit from underneath one of the seats and set about taking her vitals and examining her. Daddies Zane and Nagen helped bandage a cut on her forehead, then they worked on cleaning and wrapping up her cut feet.

“It’s going to be all right, little girl. Your daddies will take care of you. We promise,” Daddy Vilad said in a tender tone as he paused to stroke her cheek. Her eyes met his and she smiled at him through her tears.

“Thank you for finding me. That-that was my father’s head of security. He’d managed to follow me.” She tried to sit up suddenly, but her head swam and she couldn’t manage the full movement. “There’s a vessel nearby,” she said. “Two tourism pilots he paid off.”

“We have them on radar, little one,” Daddy Kameel said as he tapped at one of the screens near his seat. “We’ve attached a tracker to their ship and will locate them later. Right now, the most important thing is to get you home and call for a doctor.”

“I’m fine. Really.” She forced a smile. “I don’t need a doctor.”

“Yes, little girl, you do need a doctor,” Daddy Torin said as he appeared above her. “Daddy Vilad is a trained medic, however we want to make sure you didn’t receive any hits to head that caused damage.” As he mentioned her injuries, he tensed and a murderous look entered his gaze. She was pretty sure if Daddy Torin could pull Emmitt out of the river and kill him all over again, he wouldn’t hesitate.

Daddy Torin knelt by her and grasped her hand. He then rubbed at the red marks on her wrists. His dark eyes collided with hers and he bent down to place a soft kiss to her forehead. “My sweet little girl. I am sorry for what happened to you.” He sat back and stared down at her, guilt now written on his face.

She grasped his hand and squeezed. “Hey,” she said in a soft tone. “It’s not your fault, and you guys saved me. He didn’t plan to kill me, but he planned to hide me and smuggle me back to Earth in six months.” She recited word for word the story Emmitt had told her during his brag fest as he’d hauled her through the forest.
