“You’re truly too damn good-looking.In fact, it’s not fair that you’re literally the best-looking male I’ve ever seen.I mean, seriously, you’re even more handsome than the models on runways, and even sexier than those I’ve lusted after on covers of romance books.Although you’ve lost points for your overly macho mate claim bullshit.”He heard her inner self whine inside her head, but there was something wild about that voice that he couldn’t quite put his finger on.But she pushed him out of her thoughts with a scowl.Walls thicker than before slammed down, creating a fortress he’d have a hard time breaking through.

“While I appreciate the compliments, my love, I will have to say, you’re probably a little blind.”He’d seen many males who surely were better looking than he was.

Aurora waved her hand and rolled her eyes.“Look, I think we need to get dressed.Do that whole dressed in a wave thing you do.”

Oh, she was going to pretend they weren’t soulmates, and for the time being, he’d allow her the pretense. With a shift of his body, he dressed her and himself in clean clothing, loath to erase his scent from her and hers from him. That didn’t mean he wasn’t well aware she’d be more comfortable without his come running down her thighs.

Her brows rose.“I’d say you read my mind, but I acknowledge you can’t get inside my mind.Do you understand why I’m here?”

Savage got to his feet, walking toward his desk.“You’re running from or to something.I sensed it had something to do with someone essential to you.”He didn’t mention what he’d seen in her memories when he’d had the blood exchange with her.To form a full blood bond with their kind, they had to exchange blood three times. He didn’t think the little sip they’d swapped counted, but then again, he’d never heard of another vampire seeing buried memories like he’d seen.Of course, his kind were very secretive. His father had closed them off from his kin, Damiken, when he’d mated with a wolf, saying he’d sullied their bloodline. He hated his father for what he’d done, knowing the bastard’s choices caused most of their family’s demise.Savage and his brother had chosen to leave their home country and all they’d known to forge a new life in America. He’d heard rumors about the Vampire King and his Luna mate with their hybrid children.Vampires having children were unheard of, or so they’d been led to believe.

Savage looked back at the beautiful female.Could she have his child? The thought stirred something he’d thought long dead within his soul.Want and longing.

Chapter Ten

She didn’t have timefor soulmates, or whatever he thought they were.Saving her sister was paramount in her world.

“Savage, if you read my mind without permission, I’ll have to hurt you,” she warned.

He gripped her chin between his thumb and forefinger.“Look at me.”

Taking a deep breath and then letting it out slowly, she did as he asked.

“I don’t intentionally listen to your thoughts, Vita Mea.You tend to broadcast very loudly, and I’ll admit, I enjoy it when you lose control and do it.A lot.”He bent and pressed a kiss to her lips.

Aurora would’ve denied his words, but damn, the male stole every sane thought and word from her mind. She found herself on her tiptoes, licking along his tongue, wanting more.

He groaned, holding her closer to his firm body. She moaned as he lifted her, tangling his hand in the back of her hair.Goddess, she’d never been kissed with such fervor before Savage.

“Would you like me to tell the guests that you’re busy inspecting tonsils, Boss?”

Savage growled deep and low as he pulled away from her.“If I asked you to close your eyes while I killed one of my clan, would you be offended?”he asked Aurora. His face was a mask of complete seriousness.

She couldn’t help but laugh at his disgruntled behavior.“I have a feeling you’d be upset if you did that.”

The scoff he exhaled was sexy, too.
