“What did they say was the name of the club they were taking her to?”Aurora ran toward her rig, shocked to find the fuckers hadn’t done anything to disable it, like slash the tires or something.
She pushed the code into the door and then opened the back for Yukon to get in.Once he was inside, she slid into the driver’s seat. Her hand shook as she pulled out her phone and started the Bronco with a push of a button.Multitasking at its best. She slammed her foot down on the gas pedal, sped out of the parking lot, and stopped at the intersection as she debated on which direction to head.
“Gas up first,” she muttered.By the time she filled her tank, she had the address loaded into her GPS, snacks, and a drink for both her and Yukon, and cash from the ATM so she wouldn’t have to worry about using her credit card.“I’m coming, Biddy Bee.”
She realized her phone lay in one of the cup holders and remembered her sister had taken hers when they’d gone jogging.“Oh my Goddess. Please let her have it nevertheless.”
With one hand on the wheel, Aurora pulled up the location-sharing app.Her tears fell as she saw the little icon her sister had created of herself moving steadily North at a speed indicating they were in a vehicle. She swallowed the lump in her throat and settled her cell phone in the holder on her dashboard. The direction she had set on her map appeared in sync with Starla’s.
Relief and resolve settled in her bones. She’d get her sister back, or she’d die trying.
Chapter Two
Savage sat in whatsome might call his throne. With one foot dangling over the right side, while he rested his arm on the opposite, he stared down at the writhing, half-naked bodies on the dance floor below.Hell, more often than not, he was summoned to handle some bullshit below, while his comfy chair sat lonely and neglected.Tonight, though, he wasn’t getting up unless the building was burning to the ground, and well, then he’d vacate on his own time.
“Boss, you have a call.”
He turned his head to stare at the male, keeping his expression blank when what he wanted to do was rip the fool’s throat out.“What did I tell you earlier, Brad?”
“I apologize, Boss.Scepter informed me this was a male you’d want to speak with.It is regarding a matter he believes will solve a debt.”
Savage sat up from his lounging position, allowing both his boots to touch the floor.Snapping his fingers, he waited for the male to place the device in his hand.As the seconds ticked by, Savage looked over to see Brad, or Chad, fuck if he cared to remember the fool’s name, with his head bowed.
He let out a growl, making the lesser vampire jump.“Give me the phone,” Savage said.
“Ah, Scepter has it.He didn’t want to risk the male hanging up, while I came to you with the news.”
Savage rubbed the spot between his brows.Opening the link between him and his second, he allowed an arc of pain to pierce the distance to show Scepter he wasn’t one to fuck with.
Why did you not contact me directly instead of sending Brad with this message?Savage asked, taking satisfaction in the grimace Scepter couldn’t mask.
A grunt followed Scepter’s loud sigh. You had your walls up, Boss, and you were not answering your phone. Also, his name is not Brad—fuck, stop with the punishment before you make me bleed out in front of the humans.
Savage pulled back, scanning the throng of people and zeroing in on his second in command, Scepter, who also happened to be his best friend, glaring up at him. There might be a hundred yards between them, but for their kind, it didn’t matter, as they could see each other as if they were standing only feet apart.
Wipe your nose, you’re embarrassing yourself in front of the humans.Hell, you keep leaking like that, and some of the lesser vamps will think you’re their treat.
