Aurora had a feelingSavage didn’t end the shifters’ lives brutally because of her.If she hadn’t been in the room, he’d probably have taken extreme measures to show the others exactly why his name was Savage.It was his restraint alone that showed her how exceptional a male he truly was.If her parents had continued to live, they’d have loved him.Oh Goddess, she was in love with the Mafia Vampire.How the hell was she going to make this work?
“Sssh, Vita Mea, we will make everything work together.”
She jerked her gaze up to his glowing red eyes.“Are you in my head?”
He brushed her hair back from her face.“You were broadcasting so loudly, I’m pretty sure my entire clan could hear you.I love you, too, but I need to finish with these males before I show you just how much.”He bent, caging her body in between his arms and the chair.She melted as he feathered kisses over her forehead, along her cheekbones, and the bridge of her nose, then settled over her mouth.
After a couple of minutes, he stood and stared down at her.“I’ll always think of you and your comfort, my love.”
She felt as if she were a big ol’ puddle of melted goo sitting in his giant throne chair.This male, with all his charm, could turn her into a blabbering fool with nothing more than a look or touch.
“You hold the same power, Vita Mea.”His words were a warm caress inside her mind.
“I promised a crazy Fey Queen I’d handle you with care, as she’s claimed shifters as her people.I agreed, with the caveat that I’d ensure the ones I sent free weren’t a danger to my people.I believe you three are salvageable.Magnus and Sterling.Because you two were good to my female’s little sister, you have been given a second chance.Sadly, neither of you is fit to be the alpha.Quinn, you’re a turned wolf with the aura of an alpha.I don’t believe you want to be the leader of a pack, but you do appreciate the benefits of being a part of one.Two packs have agreed to let the three of you join theirs on a trial basis.Both are affiliated with Jenna, so you understand she will have the power to delete you with the snap of her tiny fingers.”Savage snapped his fingers to show them how easy it would be to eliminate them.
Quinn raised his hand.“Are there humans among them?Are we expected to work or—”
“I don’t know what will happen once you become part of their pack.The Mystic Wolves are in South Dakota, and the Iron Wolves...I’m not quite sure where they are.They’re both powerful packs with alphas I respect.Um, I will warn you, so you don’t go in thinking shit will be easy with the Iron Wolves.Once you are part of the pack, you’ll be associating with dragons and other shifter species.The Mystic Wolves do as well, but I’m not as familiar with how much they are incorporated with other realms.So, choose,” he said.”
Aurora stumbled to her feet.In her mind, she pictured dragons, bears, and lions —and oh, dear Goddess.“Are you being for real right now?”she asked Savage, touching his arm.
He looked down at her, his arm flexing where she touched.
“What do you mean?”
“You said dragons and others?Have you seen a real freaking dragon?”
His lips kicked up in a grin.“I haven’t seen one myself, but when I spoke with the Fey, I caught a glimpse of a pink one in her mind when she threatened me.She’s the one who offered the two packs for these males I deemed worthy to live and said I needed to prepare them, so they didn’t shit themselves.”
“Starla, are you seeing dragons?Have you actually met a pink freaking dragon?”
“Oh my, yes.I was going to contact you once I settled into bed.How did you know?”Starla’s voice had the tone of a child in awe.
“Show me,”she pleaded.Images of a huge pink dragon flying above Starla made her breath hitch.Aurora covered her mouth as she watched a massive black dragon swoop down and wrap its wings around the smaller pink dragon.
“That’s Lula’s mate.They’re so sweet and kind.I’m learning a massive amount here.Love you, sissy.”
“Love you to the moon and beyond, Biddy Bee.”
“Everything good with your sister?”Savage asked, cupping her face.
Aurora didn’t realize she’d been crying until he wiped her cheeks.“Yeah, she’s good.”
Scepter cleared his throat.“I’ll let you handle this unless you need me to take them to their pack?”
A knock interrupted them, and then, like she’d been summoned, Jenna pushed into the room.“Yoohoo, your fairy godmother is here.So, what’s it to be, my wolfies?Mystic or Iron?Choose quickly, I ain’t got all day.I have two mates I needs to be home fucking and sucking.It truly is a lot on a female’s plate, you know.”Jenna tapped her wrist as if she had a watch.
“Female, don’t you think you’ve given a little TMI?”Savage shook his head.
“Oh, is Vita Mea like a sexually transmitted thing?I thought vampires couldn’t get them?No, I’m sure they can’t.I’m mated to two of them, silly vamp.Anyhoo, what’s it gonna be?”she asked, turning to look at the three shifters who were staring at her with equal parts fear and hope.
