His arm was over her stomach, and he slept on his.
She needed to get back to her room before someone saw. She may have agreed to be his wife, but until they were married, she didn’t want a reputation.
Lifting Callum’s arm slowly, she climbed out from under him, not wanting to wake him.
She pulled her shift over her head, and then after cracking open Callum’s door, she slipped out of it, hurrying to her chambers.
Thankfully it was still early and there was no one about.
She shut her door, then leaned against it. She looked around her chambers, then started smiling.
Last night really happened. She stepped away from her door and hurried over to the wash basin next to her bed and saw that it wasn’t filled like it normally was.
That was strange. She went to the pitcher and filled up the bowl herself.
A note fluttered from the pitcher to the ground, and she set the pitcher down, and picked up the note.
Looking over the note, she gasped when she saw what it said.
It said,
Stay away from the Laird if ye ken what is good for ye.
She dropped it,then she took a deep breath, picking up the note and putting it in the fireplace.
She watched as the embers started to lick at the vellum, and then it was ash.
She refused to be chased away from the man she loved.
Nothing, and no one would scare her enough to make her leave Callum.
He was hers. And she wanted nothing more than to be his wife.
After last night, they were already wed in her mind.
She stood, going over to the now filled bowl of water, and she stripped off her shift, washing between her legs, noting the little bit of blood and Callum’s dried seed from her legs.
She bit her lip, watching as the water turned slightly pink.
After a few more swipes, she felt clean, and a little tender. She knew it was bound to happen, since Callum was a big man, and he was large everywhere.
She knew how making love worked, but she had no idea Callum would be as large as he was.
She liked it. He fit so perfectly inside her, it almost hurt, but he made her feel so good at the same time.
Shutting her eyes, she could picture every single thing they had done the night before.
She remembered how good it felt to have him give her the pleasure he had.
She leaned against the wall, and then she stood, needing to get dressed so she could go below stairs.
As soon as she had a fresh shift on, and was pulling on her outer dress, a knock sounded on the door.
She slipped on a pair of soft shoes and walked over to the door, opening it to find Callum on the other side.
His face was full of worry, and she looked around, trying to find out why, when he stepped inside, shutting the door behind them and running his fingers through his hair.
“Ye startled me lass. I woke ta find ye gone. I thought I lost ye. Or moved tae fast for ye.”
