Ella looked down at the necklace and let it melt in her hand before dropping it to the ground. She watched as the Earth opened up beneath it and sucked it down. Now it wouldn’t hurt her again.
Because she didn’t need it.
“What has gotten into you?” her mother gasped.
Ella ignored the woman and broke off into a run. Screw her parents for thinking they could make up the rules. She wasn’t like them, they didn’t get to make them up for her. They yelled after her, but she kept on as she ran through the courtyard and took the hidden passage straight up to the hall his room would be.
The painting creaked as she moved it and eyes opened wide around her. Well, a few more students knew about a secret passageway. That was the short one anyway.
She slid across the hall to his door, she shoved it open and was surprised to see so many faces staring back at her.
Tyler’s eyes clashed with hers and started to glow. The tension grew thick as he shouted for everyone to leave.
The door had barely closed when she ran and jumped up into his arms. His arms wrapped around her as her legs wrapped around his waist. One hand tangled in her hair while the other squeezed her ass. She groaned underneath his touch as their lips pressed firmly against one another.
He pulled back and pressed his forehead against hers. “No more pushing me away or running.”
She nodded in agreement then leaned back into him.
“You’re fucking mine, Ella!” He pressed kisses across her jaw, toward her ear.
“Yes!”
“I’ve known it since before I even met you.” He kissed his way down her neck.
“What?” she gasped.
He pulled back with a smirk. “You’re the reason I went to Ethereal. I heard about you, and it was like I knew wherever you were, was where I was meant to be.”
He’d always known? Why did she have to push him away? Why did she have to wear that stupid necklace for so long? For the last three years, they could have been getting so much closer.
Her eyes closed. “I’m sorry I pushed you away and caused us both so much pain.”
“Hey.” He placed a gentle kiss on her lips. “That’s behind us now.”
“I could never stay away from you, I tried.” Her eyes searched his.
“Never again.” His brows pushed together.
She nodded. “No more running or hiding.”
He sighed and held her tight.
“You’re mine too, Tyler, and I’m not going to let go.” She admitted the words out loud for the first time. “My mate.”
His eyes moved to find hers. “Say it again.” He smirked.
“My mate.” She chewed on her bottom lip.
“Fuck yeah, you are.” He carried her to the bed and sat on the edge. “We’ll take this as slow as you need.”
His hard cock pressing against her ass said otherwise.
“I don’t want to wait.” She rocked against him, causing a groan to escape his lips.
“Thank fuck.” His hands moved to the sides of her face, dropping his lips onto hers.
