They appeared in a daze, captivated by the song of the siren. I called out to them and ran toward them. I pulled against them, trying to break whatever spell had been placed, until a hiss sounded.

The siren was carried up on a large tentacle. Her eyes met mine, and they narrowed. For a moment, I wanted to believe there was the smallest amount of good in her and that she would let them out of whatever trance they were in, but she didn’t.

I quickly grabbed the knives from their belts and charged toward her. I wouldn’t let her take them from me. The dress wrapped around my legs as I climbed up the railing and jumped toward her with both knives held ready.

Her scream was music to my ears as the blades pierced her. One in the eye and another in her chest. Both dragged down, cutting her open before she fell back into the water.

My arms wrapped around the tentacle in an attempt to not drop below the surface to where more of the monsters lurked, but the bigger monster wasn’t on my side.

It wrapped around me slowly, tightening until all I could do was look at the men I loved. They reached for me in awareness, and I knew I did all I could to save them. The tentacle wrapped around my head until the last thing I heard was screams. I wasn’t sure if it was them or my own before everything went dark.

I sat up with a start. It felt all too real. Like it was Frederick and Kai, only it wasn’t. It felt both right and wrong, and it only confused me more. My mind immediately went to the woman from the hotel and her warning.

“She told me to tell you to not repeat the past.”

I looked over to see Frederick still sleeping. He had a scowl on his face that made me think he wasn’t having pleasant dreams either. All I could think was that I needed to fix it. I wanted to shine a light in the darkest parts of him and lighten whatever burdened him.

I’d pull him out of whatever nightmare haunted him. I wanted to pleasure him as much as he enjoyed bringing me to mine. I licked my lips, leaned over slowly, and placed a soft kiss to his cheek. He didn’t move, so I placed another on his neck. I trailed soft kisses down his chest before moving the sheet away from his dick that was already hard and waiting. He sleepily moaned as I gripped him in my hand.

I kept my eyes on his face as I wrapped my lips around him. His lips parted, and his hand moved to my head.

A moment later, his eyes opened. “As beautiful as you look with your lips around my cock, I need more.” He pulled me off of his cock, yanked me up, and flipped us over until he pressed inside me.

He was fucking insatiable, and I loved it.

Chapter Twenty-Eight

KAI

Ishould’ve listened to my gut and delayed our departure. The storm hadn’t even been on the radar, but it was like I could smell it. The hair at the back of my neck stood as every nerve in my body felt on edge. I was alert but not ready to see what I feared I would. The storm came out of nowhere, just like that day.

I’d barely managed to convince the research team to wait to dive, when it came. They’d looked at me like I was crazy at first. Arguing that there wasn’t a storm on the radar and the sky was clear.

Rosalyn believed me though; she stopped what she was doing and told them I knew this area better than they did. When the clouds formed quickly, they looked at me with thanks before quickly covering the equipment and going inside before the rain could come.

“Go inside,” I ordered her.

It was like she knew something was different this time. She hesitated before nodding and went inside.

I walked closer to the railing and scanned the water as the sky darkened. Lightning struck just as I saw movement. I stared, daring it to be false. I watched, because I didn’t want to see it.

I didn’t want to believe, but I saw it again.

The oversize tentacle was the only proof I needed to remind me of the lies I carried. I couldn’t look away, even as my brother approached and watched with me. There would be no more secrets between us after this.

Anybody who knew couldn’t say anything. We all know the truth of the wreckage in the depths below us. It was the monster that caused it; we just didn’t know the details. We couldn’t explain the missing part of the ship either. All we could do was say it was natural elements and agree with the scientist.

I believed some of the locals also knew but wouldn’t talk about it. They either didn’t want to believe or refused to allow others to think they were crazy, maybe both. But the truth was there.

“We should go back to land when the storm passes,” Frederick spoke softly next to me.

“They won’t like it,” I argued with him, but I didn’t disagree.

“What was that?” We turned to see Rosalyn behind us with wide eyes.

“Go inside, little one.” My brother stepped toward her. “Now.”

She wanted to argue, but her eyes flickered between us. I thought she would listen and turn around to go back inside. I was wrong, she stepped closer to us and near the railing.
