Rogue waved off my apology. He uncrossed his arms and legs and rested his hands on the sink. The man was a constant turn-on. “To answer your question, it always starts out that way. And then pop, things change, and we’re going at it another way.”

I knew what he was referring to. “What if she doesn’t want to?”

“Then she shouldn’t let it get to the ‘pop’ part.” Rogue licked his lips, and a bead of wetness raced down my inner thigh.

“I’ll take over from here,” Sam said as he entered the bathroom. He glanced at Rogue’s hardon and then up at me. He didn’t say anything about it, but we both knew I had been the reason for the thing looking like a future projectile.

“I never thanked you for helping me out last night. I do appreciate it.” Sam nodded and started to leave. Something made me grab his arm. He stopped and looked down at me. “I mean it. I just don’t know what more I can give in return.”

“Help us with the land trust.”

That’s all he said—nothing about staying when that was over.

“What else do you want from me?” I asked and blocked the bathroom door.

Sam moved his hand gently across my cheek, holding my chin in his fingers as his eyes focused on mine. “We want you to stay, Liz. We want you to become part of our daily lives. In return, you will never again doubt a man’s love for you. It’s your choice.”

“And what happens at night?” I was at a loss for words. Where were my questions coming from? I needed to stay on task and let the thought of naked men seep back into the gutter.

 “You mean in bed?”

I nodded sheepishly, embarrassed at my own question. Somehow, they were changing me. And somehow, I had to stop it.

“That will be up to you as well.” He took a step closer and blocked out the bathroom lights. Sometime between him leaving the bathroom and his return, he’d lost his shirt. Across his chest were four large claw scars.

 “Who did that to you?”

“Our kind has disagreements just like your kind do.” He looked down at the top of my towel, and my skin tingled. Another bead of wetness warmed my thigh. Fuck. He then sniffed the air, somehow knowing I was growing wet. “We may have a difficult time keeping our paws to ourselves with you around. I hope you know that?”

I took a deep breath and tried to think of something else other than being pleasantly ravaged by the four men. It wasn’t like me. John had turned me into a prude. But that was quickly changing. My desire for Sam and the others was beginning to cloud my judgment. Stay on task. But then I did something that was totally not me.

I moved to my tiptoes and kissed Sam, opening my mouth to taste his. Sam met my passion with his own, his hands moving around me, pressing into my back. For the first time in my life, I became lightheaded from a single kiss. I knew better. I knew what his kind would do if I let them. My knees went weak, and Sam held me tighter, keeping me from hitting the floor.

“I’m sorry,” I said when I broke the kiss. “I’m not sure what’s happening to me.” Nervously, I moved my hair back over my ears and looked away. What was I becoming? Remember why you’re here, Liz.

“There’s no need to be sorry, Liz. Every minute you stay with us, you will lose more and more of your old self. We aren’t here to hurt you. But we also won’t deny our desires for you.”

“I’ve never been with more than one man at a time.”

“At your own pace, we will teach you everything you need to know. We will be gentle. I give you my word you will be in good hands.” He left my side and grabbed the robe from the bathroom closet. He held the robe out, waiting for me to drop the towel and slip my arms into the armholes.

I dropped the towel and stood motionless in front of Sam, watching his eyes wash over me. Seeing the enjoyment in his eyes that my body brought to him, I felt like an attractive woman for the first time in a long time.

“You may not want to walk around naked the way we do.”

I raised an eyebrow at the suggestion. “The rules can’t be different. What if I was one of you?”

“Being one of us isn’t for everyone. I’m not sure you’d like it.”

“You don’t know that. What if I said I want to try it.”

“There is no trying it. There is no going back once you have changed. Is that the life you want? I don’t think so.”

“Well, maybe you don’t know everything.”

“We should go join the others.”

When I slipped into the robe, Sam turned me and tied the robe, licking his lips as he stole a glance at my breasts. I didn’t know if that were the man Sam or the wolf Sam. I supposed it didn’t matter. I was sure to meet both again.
