“What’s going on?” I asked, taking a seat next to him.

“I’m leaving,” he said, clearing his throat.

“When will you be back?”

“I-I’m not coming back.”

My heart beat faster.

“What? Where are you going?”

His legs bounced. Enzo never got nervous. Fear took hold as I twisted my fingers together.

I watched him scrub his hand down his face before he blew out a breath.

“This isn’t easy, Rosalie,” he continued. “I-I’m getting married.”

I blinked rapidly at the information, swearing my heart had stalled before pounding hard.

“I-I don’t understand,” I managed to say. I noted he didn’t say we. He said I.

“Things haven’t been good between us. I-I met someone else.”

I didn’t even realize I was crying until the first tear landed on my hand.

He finally looked at me, his face slack and devoid of any emotion.

“I’ve asked her to marry me. She’s accepted. That’s where I’ve been lately. With her. S-She’s pregnant. We’re having a baby.”

My pulse roared in my ears at his words. There was no way. No way… I knew he’d been withdrawing from me, but cheating? He’d been cheating on me the entire time?

My mouth felt as if I’d been sucking on a cotton ball.

Cole came into the room and stopped in his tracks as he took in the scene.

“H-How long? How long have-have you been cheating?” I managed to find the words.

“Months,” he murmured. “It happened right after the engagement party, but really, it was the night at the club. When I was alone with her. Something happened then.”

I hugged myself as tears poured down my cheeks. He’d been cheating for months.

“And you still planned to marry me even though you’d already cheated?”

“I didn’t think it meant anything,” he said. “But then all this other shit happened, and I-I guess things got away from me. I’m sorry.”

“You’re sorry? You’re sorry!” I screamed, finally getting to my feet as his words sank in. “You told me nothing was going on with her.Celeste.” I spat her name like poison. “You swore it wasn’t like that! You lied to me! To us! To-To Fox! You hurt him so fucking much by asking me to marry you! Why, Enzo? Why would you do that to us?”

“I’m sorry,” he repeated softly.

I was going to be sick. I couldn’t believe this. And here I was beating myself up over kissing someone when he’d been fucking another woman for months and had her pregnant.

God, I’d been so fucking stupid.

Anson tried to tell me to leave. Fox told me I should go.

I stayed. I always fucking stayed.

“Enzo,” I choked out. “Please...”
