He rolled his eyes and smoked more. I knew Fox wasn’t OK yet, but I really fucking hoped he would be soon.
“You’ll be there to hear it,” I continued, gauging him for a reaction.
His lips curled into a smile. “Yeah, so you better make it good.”
“I will,” I murmured, drinking deeply. She’d told me we weren’t ever going to happen, and fuck me, I believed her. Her words had shredded my heart. There was no coming back from them, but to keep Fox alive, I’d believe whatever lie he wanted to tell me.
So I played along, laughing with him and planning a future I’d not be able to be a part of, but fuck it.
Anything for LeeLee.

“Are you sure you have everything?” I looked over the small suitcase Cole brought downstairs, along with Rosalie’s. He’d begged to have this weekend with her. I’d given in because I knew we all needed to have time alone with her, plus I was taking her on our honeymoon soon, so it made sense.
It didn’t make me worry any less.
To make matters worse, I received news that Anson was getting married.
He was getting a fucking wife, and it was none other than Bianca.
I reached out to Dominic, who was too busy destroying his safe house to come to the phone. Suffice it to say, he was pretty unhappy with the situation, and Vincent promised they’d get him cooled down. As far as I knew, whatever the kings had done had worked to quell the fire.
But Anson was in a fuck of a lot of trouble for this stunt. I didn’t know why he’d done it, and he certainly wasn’t answering his damn phone to tell me. I’d even visited his apartment several times this week and had a couple of guys out front to watch the place since he’d not been home. Fox mentioned seeing him a week ago, but said he didn’t know anything.
Rosalie didn’t know about Anson’s sudden engagement, and I sure as hell wasn’t going to be the one to tell her either. Cole, on the other hand, was pissed. I wasn’t quite sure why, other than it fucked with the kings, but he seemed to take Anson’s sudden engagement personally.
I didn’t want to focus on it right now. I’d watch and wait. Something was going on. It had to be more than Matteo arranging this marriage. From what I knew, Matteo was the one who had been trying to fuck Bianca from the start. I guess if he kept with his sick traditions, he’d still get the opportunity. Maybe Anson would be more accommodating than Dom had been.
“I got everything,” Cole said, clapping me on the back.
“Weapons—”
“Enzo, man. I have everything. Relax.”
I sighed and nodded. “I just worry. That’s all.”
“You know I won’t let her out of my sight. Besides, you’re sending Derek and Randy with us. Those two are bloodhounds.”
I grunted. He was right. They were two of the best men we had as far as gunfights went. They shot first and asked questions, well, never.
Rosie came into the room wearing a pretty pink sundress, her red curls in a high ponytail. She looked stunning.
Fuck, I didn’t want them to go.
Too late now. I’d already made the deal with the guys. I hoped Fox took her next because he was so damn depressed. I was concerned. I figured maybe I could hang out with him this weekend while Rosalie was away. Maybe we’d get shit sorted and he’d smile a little more. He did seem happier than he had been, but he still wasn’t a hundred. Something was bothering him, and I wanted to get to the bottom of it.
“You are breathtaking,” I said, kissing her soft lips.
She melted against me, kissing me back. I’d fucked her last night in her bedroom alone. I was tempted to haul her right back upstairs and sink inside her body again.
“I’ll miss you,” I whispered against her lips.
“I’ll miss you, too. Be good,” she replied.
I chuckled softly. “I’m always good, Sunshine.”
