She nipped my bottom lip.Fuck, what she did to me.I pulled her away from the suitcases, deciding I needed her once more before she left, but E swept into the room and tore her away from me, shooting me a knowing smirk as he did so.

“My turn,” he said, lifting her into his arms and spinning her. She let out a laugh, her arms around his neck, before he fused his lips to hers.

He placed her gently on her feet and whispered things to her not meant for any of us. When he released her, she went to Fox. I hadn’t even noticed he’d come into the room. I watched the pair kiss on one another and whisper like she’d done with E.

Fox’s kiss was intense. She was breathless when he released her. She stumbled away from him and over to Cole, a tiny smile on her lips.

At least he was being normal to her. That meant he was probably OK, or at the very least, getting to the point of being OK. I planned the weekend so we could hang out. E was welcome to join us, but I knew E. He would bury himself in the basement to get far enough ahead so that when Rosalie and Cole returned, he could take her upstairs and show her how much he missed her.

“Take care of her,” I warned Cole again.

He rolled his eyes at me. “Don’t insult me, Enzo. For fuck’s sake. I know how to handle my woman.”

“That’s not what I’m worried about,” I muttered as he grabbed both their suitcases.

Rosalie gave us a wave and followed Cole outside, leaving us all alone.

Immediately, the house felt way too empty.

They weren’t going far. A bed and breakfast on the lake, but I was still on edge. Cole tried to argue he wanted to use the trip Rosalie got them, but I bartered with him on it, swearing I’d let him fuck Rosalie on our wedding night after I’d had her. He agreed without batting an eyelash.

“I’ll be in the basement,” E said, glancing from Fox to me. He widened his eyes at me and nodded quickly to Fox as a means to tell me to talk to him before he went downstairs.

I cleared my throat. “Hey. I thought maybe we could hang out today if you’re not doing anything.”

“I’m busy. I’m going to the gym for conditioning. Probably going to hit the field and throw some. We’re hitting the field again next month. Don’t want to fall behind.”

“I’ll come with you if that’s cool,” I said immediately. “I haven’t played in forever.”

Fox shrugged. “Whatever you want. I’ll grab my bag.” He didn’t wait for me. He rushed upstairs.

I took that opportunity to go into the kitchen. I quickly put together some protein drinks for us before dashing upstairs to change into workout gear. It felt strange not to be dressed to kill. When I returned to the living room, Fox was waiting for me at the door. I grabbed the protein shakes and handed one to him.

“Thanks,” he said, pulling open the front door. I followed him out. I was going to suggest my new Escalade, but he went for his Jeep. I got into the passenger side and we left.

“This is weird,” I said as we turned onto the street.

“What is?”

“Us. In your Jeep. Dressed like this. It’s like high school all over again.”

Fox let out a soft laugh. “Yeah, I guess it is. Except now we don’t have a curfew.”

“Like we ever followed it.” I laughed.

He shot me a knowing grin. I relaxed and caught my men tailing us a few car lengths back.

We were quiet for a moment before I spoke.

“Are you OK?” I asked softly.

“No,” he replied, glancing at me. “I will be, though.”

“Do you want to talk about it?”

He was quiet for a moment. “It’s really the same old stuff, man.”

I nodded. I figured.
