He let out a loud laugh. “Maybe later, you nut sac.” He pushed his door open and got out.
I grinned, feeling like he was more like his old self now. It was one worry down. I just had to make things right with my Rosebud.
“Hey, Rosebud,”I called out as I stood in the doorway to her bedroom.
She looked over at me from where she lay on the bed, her notebook next to her, and Cotton purring on her chest.
“Can I come in?” I continued, really hoping she wouldn’t turn me away. Fox and I ordered dinner, and he was setting it out. I’d talked him into scheduling the food for pick-up for a few hours later so I could shop for an apology gift for Rosalie.
“Sure,” she said, her green eyes trained on me as I came into the room and sat on the edge of the bed. Cotton got up and gaveme a cursory sniff before hopping to the floor and darting out of the bedroom.
“Fox and I got dinner,” I started. “Your favorite. Chinese.”
“Thanks,” she murmured, looking at her hands on her lap.
I breathed out. “Rosebud? I-I’m sorry for the Ass Ha-, I mean, Anson thing. I got out of control. There’s no excuse for my actions.”
She frowned at me, not saying a word. I bit my bottom lip nervously before handing her a gift bag.
“I, um, bought you something.”
“Cole, you can’t just try to buy your way out of your bad decisions.”
“I know. I-I just suck at apologizing. I’m trying, Rosalie. I am. I don’t know how to do this shit. I suck, OK? I’m a jealous, irrational, insane asshole. I won’t do it again. I made a promise to Fox, too. I’m done. I swear I’m going to be better now. I even crossed my heart.” I winced at my feeble apology.
When she still didn’t say anything, I drew in a deep breath. “Rosalie. I love you with my whole heart and soul. I worry I’m not good enough for you and that you’ll figure it out and leave me,” I mumbled. “I react like an idiot because of it. Please, I’m begging you to forgive me.” I stared down at my hands.
“OK,” she replied. “I forgive you.”
“Really?” I snapped my head up in surprise at her.
“Yes, Cole. I love you?—”
I didn’t give her a chance to finish her sentence. I was on her in a heartbeat, pressing my lips against hers. She kissed me back, making me feel like the luckiest man in the world.
“I love you, too, baby.” I kissed her again. “You’re mine forever.”
“Always,” she replied, nipping my bottom lip. “But swear you’ll stop?—”
“I swear. Never again. I won’t point any more guns at him.” I pulled away from her, forcing myself not to bury my cock inside her body. “Open the gift.”
She smiled at me and took the bag. I watched her bring out a pretty new sundress.
“I know how much you like these kinds of dresses,” I said, eyeing the green dress. “I like this one because it’s low-cut like that other one.”
“Thank you. I love it.” She leaned in and kissed me again.
“There’s also this,” I murmured, pulling away and handing her an envelope.
She tore it open and stared down at the card.
“We’re going on a getaway?” She crinkled her brows at me.
“Yeah. You and me. I cleared it with the guys. I get you for an entire weekend away. Enzo is sending guys to keep an eye on things, but they’ll not be sharing a room with us or anything.” I raked my fingers through my hair nervously. “It’s for next weekend. Since I can’t go with you and Enzo on the honeymoon, and the Maldives are too far away right now, I negotiated and got this. Pretty sure E and Fox are also going to do their own weekends away with you, so it works out for everyone.”
“Really?” Her eyes lit up, and I breathed out in relief. I feared she’d tell me to get bent. This lightened my mood significantly.
“Yeah, baby. Do you like it?”
