“Wolves from Red Claw!?” my father asks in disbelief.
My mother glares at him. “Shh!”
Would that girl hurt her?My father asks me.
No,I say with conviction.She is hardly with her pack. They heavily mistreated her. Annalise is her only friend. She is fiercely loyal.I pause.And I might or might not have used my gift on her to make sure.
My father nods contentedly.If your gift tells you she is being truthful, it’s enough reassurance for me.He pauses.Wasn’t Red Claw the pack you did research on?He wants to know.
I nod.
We definitely need to talk to this girl. She might be able to tell us something.
If we do that…I shift my gaze to look at him.She will be in danger. We need to offer her protection in return.
Do you think she would help us to the extent that it would put her life in danger?My father wants to know.
Her loyalties lie with Annalise,I explain.I made sure about that when I led her to my mate today.
What the heck is going on in Red Claw?he mutters.
“And Lauren?” Dante continues meanwhile.
“She… knew them… but not all of them…”
“Did she hire them?”
“No, don’t think so… she… she… said something about… working together with them. I think she had an affair with one of them.” A pause. “When the Alpha wolf noticed that my senses still worked, he got mad at her too. He hit her, and then said something about how they were supposed to help each other get rid of me.”
“They worked together, but not for one another,” my father frowns, gazing at Calvin. “Call Alpha Cedric and tell him about this. Maybe he will find out more.”
“The Alpha wolf,” Annalise continues. “The leader of this group called someone…”
“What did he say?” Dante asks softly.
“I don’t know…” she pauses. “Oh wait… Alpha.”
“Another Alpha male wolf?” Dante asks.
She shakes her head, wincing slightly. “No, he called him Alpha. His Alpha.”
My eyes widen at her words. It wasn’t just a wolf with Alpha blood involved, but the Alpha of a pack!? Red Claw? But despite everything, Red Claw is a big pack. Why would their Alpha endanger everyone there by abducting my mate?
Maybe it was a rogue who built his own pack?
“All right,” the doctor steps in. “That’s enough.”
“Thank you, Annie,” Dante smiles at her warmly. “You helped us a lot.”
“I’ll make sure she rests now,” I promise.

Chapter 36 Love, Actually
*ANNALISE*
Thehighlightofmyhospital stay is Emerson visiting together with his family and little Emily. I’m so happy to see Emerson and Daisy with their baby Fleur and very surprised to see Emily with them. They tell me how they recently walked by the nursery and saw Emily there, making flower crowns. She told them I taught her how to make them and then made one for Daisy. Seems that Daisy instantly fell in love with Emily. I know Emily is an orphan, and while I don’t know Daisy very well yet, I do know Emerson and he is a wonderful man. If they truly plan on adopting Emily, I’d be so happy. She tested Beta, so I'm not sure if it's possible, but I certainly hope so.
