“You just agreed with me,” I ask, dumbfounded.
He shrugs. “You made a good point.”
I can’t freaking believe it. An Alpha like Liam, the successor to the Lycan throne… just let me call him out for his old-fashioned views.
“I have only seen two girls before you,” he points out suddenly. “One of them was a friend in school, and we had a friend with benefits thing going. She was waiting for her mate too, so no strings attached. The other was at college, same situation, and only for a few months. None of them were from my own pack, and neither was after my rank. I used my lie detector ability on them, as you call it. They both found their mates and moved on easily. I don’t want you to think I was jumping on everyone with a vagina.”
I can’t deny that his words make me feel relieved and slightly happy. I don’t mind him having a past, but I like that he kept it low and always thought about his future mate. In a way, it makes me feel cherished.
“But as chauvinistic as it sounds,” he muses. He sounds all casual, but I can hear a slightly teasing tone. “I can't deny that I’m happy to be your first. I can’t wait to explore that wonderful body of yours.”
“Oh right,” I roll my eyes at his last words. I know he said it on purpose. The tension is suddenly gone, and I feel myself getting amused again. “You are always saying I need to pay for being cheeky. But this time, it’s definitely on you.”
He smirks, scooting me into his arms. He looks at me innocently. “So, what will my punishment look like?”
I swallow slightly. I didn’t even know he could look like that. Goddess, I wonder if I will be a match for him… ever. I dive my fingers through his thick hair. It feels so soft. I like that it’s slightly longer. It’s beautiful and hot at the same time. Match or not, I want to tease him a bit. “We are definitely delaying the exploring-my-body part,” I smirk. “First, it’s movie time.”
“Oh no,” he rolls his eyes. “You are going to make me suffer.”
I chose an action movie to watch; I’m not one for romance movies myself. I like supernatural genres more than sci-fi, or action. I took pity on him, though, and chose something I thought he would like: a normal action flick about a family getting abducted and a retired agent looking for them.
“You know, I could have just taken you to the movies,” he states.
“Right, and every girl there would stare at you,” I say dryly. “Nope, for once, I’d like to have you all to myself.”
He raises his brows, apparently liking what he hears. But he doesn’t comment on it. Halfway into the movie, I regret my choice. It’s seriously like watching a movie with my grandpa!
“So,” Liam interrupts the silence during the first showdown in the middle of the movie. The protagonist is standing in front of the villain, a gun in hand. “Why is he talking all the time? He could have already shot the guy.”
“He was trying to reason with him,” I explain patiently.
“Why? Now the guy got away, and he is stuck in that basement.”
“Liam,” I giggle. “It’s just a movie, not a live documentary.”
“All right, but now his wife has been abducted. Why did she decide it would be smart to roam around that deserted warehouse?”
“She thought his life was in danger.”
“Isn’t he some sort of super-agent,” he points out. “And she is… not?”
“Yes.”
“Ah.”
We approach the last part, the finale showdown. “He is running after a car. He is human. How come he is that fast?” Liam inquires, frowning. I’m snuggled against him by now, relieved that I already watched the movie, so I don’t mind answering his questions. “And why doesn’t he know where to look?”
“Well…”
“Can’t he track him? He has internet!”
“You can’t watch a fictional movie and apply too much logic to it.”
Finally… the movie ends. Liam stares at the screen in disbelief. “Why the heck did no one die in the end!?”
I can’t contain my amusement anymore. I grab the nearest pillow and smack him in his face with it. Before he can grab my arms, I jump up and run away from him.
“Oh,” He raises an eyebrow. “We are playing, are we?”
