“We are going to my place,” I state. I'm definitely not letting her go back to her dorm room. She doesn’t argue about it, but instead seems to be relieved she can stay with me.

Chapter 20 Alpha Celine
*ANNALISE*
Theshockofbeingattacked sits deeper than I expected it to. I shiver slightly at how that creep Marc looked at me. Liam took me home immediately and held me in his arms the whole night without even trying to touch me in any other way. The only thing he made me do was eat and drink something.
I feel so safe with him. I have never felt like this before. Sure, when I’m with my father and brother, I feel safe too, but this is different. It’s a feeling of security. A feeling rooted so deeply inside me like an instinct.
I wake up early in the morning, and I instantly know that he is awake too. He probably didn’t sleep well due to being worried for me. I’m feeling surprisingly better about everything though.
“You look better today,” Liam comments with a relieved smile.
I smile up at him. “Yes.”
“Ready for breakfast? Are you hungry?”
“Yes, I’m starving.”
Liam looks happy at my answer. “How do scrambled eggs sound to you?”
“With bacon? Bacon upgrades any food.”
Liam smirks. “You are obviously the woman of my life.” He sits up, pulling me with him. “You can have the bathroom to yourself. I will prepare coffee and bacon & eggs.”
I beam at him happily. “I will hurry.”
“No, take your time, Annalise.”
My chest warms whenever he says my name. It’s the way he says it, the way the syllables roll off his tongue, the way his dark voice makes my name sound so hot all of a sudden.
Yes, I should definitely hit the shower now.
The warm water indeed wakes me up completely. I still can’t believe what happened yesterday. I know I should have told Liam earlier. That’s on me. It was stupid, but I will ensure it doesn’t happen again. Lesson learned.
And I need to train more. I’m proud of how my instincts and reflexes worked yesterday, but as Liam’s mate, I need to become stronger.
When I’m finished in the bathroom, dressed in one of Liam’s shirts and boxers, I find him in the kitchen. He turns to look at me, his eyes darkening for a moment. “I need to make sure you have some of your clothes here,” he mutters. “No way I want anyone else to see you like that.”
“But you like the look?” I tease.
He scoots around me, wrapping an arm around my waist from behind and kissing the top of my head. “You look mouth-watering.”
“So, what’s more delicious looking,” I smirk. “Me or the bacon?”
“Oh, baby,” he chuckles. “That’s a tough call.”
His words make me laugh. “So, bacon for now, and me later?”
“Good deal,” he winks at me.
When I grab two plates to set the breakfast table, he clears his voice. “Annalise?”
I pause, eyeing him curiously. “Yes?”
“I’m very proud of how you defended yourself yesterday.”
