Chapter twenty-two
Chapter 22 Fenris and Leah
*LIAM*
Annalisestaysquietduringour whole drive. She knows she has just pushed me into agreeing to something against my will. She played her cards right, I have to admit that much, because how am I supposed to answer when she asks me if I trust her?
Of course, I do.
I know, I understand. I really do, but I’m majorly pissed off, too, now.
Don’t be such an idiot,Fenris huffs.Mate is right. She has the right to meet me!
Annalise, call her by her name,I growl.
Fine,Fenris doesn’t seem to falter one bit. He is too excited at the prospect of meeting his mate.Annalise has the right to meet me! We are both her mate, and she is ours. She wants to see me. Finally! I want to see her and Leah too. You can’t prevent me from seeing her wolf. I bet Leah is as beautiful as Annalise, and I want to meet her.
You might scare her away.I say evenly.
So that’s what you are afraid of? I will scare her off? If she is truly scared, she wouldn’t be our mate! She is not a freaking idiot. Didn’t you learn anything about her over the last weeks? She knows what she is getting into.
She has never seen a Lycan wolf.
She will now,he says mercilessly.Stop being such a baby about it. This will make you even closer.
Or tear us apart,I mutter.
Fenris doesn’t answer, but I can feel his annoyance. This is the first thing we have disagreed upon in a long while.
When we arrive at our destination, I stop the car. “We are at the border of Silverlake pack,” I explain. I can feel my own nervousness growing a bit. Goddess, make her not be scared of me, please. “I can shift here. There is no one close. I told the guards to leave us alone.”
She nods, more meek than usual. I assume she does it for me to assure me that she would submit to Fenris and me if needed, that there is no fear from her side.
I hate to admit it, but all my instincts as an Alpha are pleased by her behavior. I have to fight back the urge to have her bend over the front of the car and fuck her until she screams my name in ecstasy.
That would scare her more than shifting in front of her!Fenris grumbles. Not that I would oppose. She is delicious. So smart and feisty. Her submission is a gift. When you take her make sure it will be long and good for her.
I force my more primal thoughts back into the back of my mind before turning to look at her. “Fenris is bigger than the normal wolf. You have most likely never seen a wolf his size. Don’t forget I’m a Lycan. Fenris towers easily over most other wolves. The fact that I’m an Alpha wolf and the firstborn of a Lycan makes my wolf even stronger and bigger. Just… don’t insult him, don’t tease him, all right?”
She nods her head. “I won’t.”
“Annalise,” I say quietly. “Please don’t forget it’s still me, okay?”
“Liam, I don’t know what else to tell you,” she looks at me through her bright, honest eyes. “Nothing about you will scare me. Please trust me.” She looks around a bit. “Your pack knows your wolf?”
“Of course, they do. They are used to my father’s wolf and mine. For a pack, it’s an advantage to have a strong Alpha wolf.” I pause. “I don’t usually shift in front of children, though. They are always scared of Fenris because he is huge.”
She nods, watching me while I undress. Once I’m ready, she takes a few steps back to give me more space, and then I finally allow Fenris to take over. I feel his senses filling me, his strength; my limbs and my bones are cracking and stretching. When I first shifted, I thought I would die. Now I don’t even feel the pain anymore.
Once shifted, I am towering over her. She looks so tiny in front of me. Through Fenris’ enhanced senses, I can feel my mate even stronger. Her scent, her gaze lingering on us, her breath. Everything is so clear. She didn’t even flinch when she saw me. I could feel her surprise when I shifted, but I can’t feel any fear. I’m so huge that I could easily rip her apart, yet she keeps standing in front of me, looking at me in awe.
“Fenris,” she mutters.
“Yes,” he growls.
She seems to be surprised. “You can talk to me without using the mind link?”
“Yes.”
