He stares at me, eyes wide.

“Is something wrong?” I stutter.

“Why do you look so pretty?” He pulls me into his arms, growling slightly. “To imagine all those Alphas will see you looking so beautiful…”

“I mean, I can’t wear a potato sack,” I grin. “I need to make a good first impression.”

“You will,” he admits begrudgingly. “I’m more for the potato sack now.”

I pat his arm gently. “Forget it.”

“All right, but I demand a kiss before we leave.”

I can’t help it. Every time he flirts with me, my knees seem to get weak. He is just so sweet. I happily lean into a kiss. It’s slow but more passionate than I expect before he reluctantly pulls away. “We have to go,” he says in annoyance. “Ari already mind linked me twice. When she finds her mate, I swear I’m going to play cock-blocker for her too.”

I burst into helpless giggles. It’s rare for Liam to make such silly jokes, so they are more hilarious when he does.

To my relief, we manage to meet our fellow pack members in time. I hate to make others wait. My mood rises instantly when I notice who will drive us today – it’s Emerson. He is back at work finally! I really missed his quiet and kind company. Elden, as Silverlake’s leader, is coming too obviously, and so are his Betas, Calvin and Vincent. Aryanna is there, and Dante, to protect Liam and me. I see a few pack warriors who will join us as well. To my surprise, Aurelia is with them. I know Liam is not treating her any differently just because she is his sister. How awesome it is that she is already allowed to join her family on a mission… It means she's made excellent progress. Ella is joining us as well. She is the only real insider we have in Red Claw.

Flora and Aurel will stay behind because the pack can’t remain unprotected.

“Mom is not only there to lead the pack in case of an attack, but she is also a pretty kickass fighter,” Liam explains.

“Flora is that strong?” I ask curiously.

He chuckles. “She doesn’t look like it, but she is of Alpha blood and a Lycan. Her gifts are pretty deadly.”

“Cool,” I beam. “Kinda want to see it.”

“You will eventually,” he promises.

The location we are driving to is a meeting hall between Silverlake, Moon Blood and a few other pack territories. It’s going to be quite the assembly there. Liam gives me a little information on who is joining us for the meeting while Emerson drives us. I know some of the names he mentions. They are from bigger packs across the country. A few Lycans will be there too.

He tells me that Celine will participate in Alpha Cedric’s place. I’m surprised! Seems like Alpha Cedric is slowly preparing her to take over the pack. Recently she has gotten into contact with some of our informants, and retrieved some really unsettling information. It looks like Marcus has been terrorizing some smaller, vulnerable packs. It’s another point Liam wants to discuss at the meeting.

From the outside, the meeting hall doesn’t look too unusual. Most of the time, these meetings are on neutral ground to make it easier for everyone to participate and to discuss urgent issues in a civilized manner without any power dynamics.

Most of the wolves who accompanied us will wait for us outside. Alphas normally just come with their Betas, sometimes with their mates too.

Before we can enter, Liam’s phone rings. "That's Celine." He nods at me. “Go ahead,” he says with an encouraging smile. “I will follow suit.”

I nod. I really didn’t consider where I was and who I was meeting. I didn’t give it a second thought, and Liam probably didn’t either. We are both not used to doing this as a couple yet, so that’s why I just walked into the meeting room on my own. Alone. Into a room full of Alphas.

Liam definitely didn’t consider this, or he would have made sure Elden was with me.

When I open the door and walk into the room, I feel eyes on me. This is totally awesome… sigh. Of course, they will instantly notice the presence of an Omega like me. There is no turning back now, though. I remember Flora's advice about always walking into any room with dignity and like I own it. Okay, I will just pretend it’s totally normal that I'm here. Hello Alpha dudes, here comes the Omega she-wolf, nothing’s wrong, everything’s normal.

It seems like my little show of confidence is indeed convincing, much to my surprise, because some guys turn away and continue to chat with each other.

Everything seems to be going well until…

“Since when are Omegas allowed here,” one of the dudes mutters. “Didn’t the servants leave already? What is she thinking, strolling around here?”

“They are so weak and useless.” Another one agrees.

I ignore them, pretending to be completely oblivious to their words. Enter a room with dignity and like I own it… I repeat over and over in my head. So, I do. I walk by a few Alphas with their Betas, greeting them like it’s completely natural that I’m around. I obviously take them by surprise because some even mutter a greeting in return.

“Hey, didn’t you hear us!?” one of the two guys from before suddenly approaches me, grabbing my arm and halting right in front of me. I stop, noticing how others are watching with interest now. I can instantly read his aura. He is an Alpha, and the guy next to him is probably his Beta.
