Flora steps a bit closer. She has been watching everything unfold without intervening. Now she reaches out her hand, touching Elden’s arm. “Regis?” she asks softly, her gaze not leaving his. “My strong Lycan.”
Elden, or rather Regis, turns his head to look at her. She seems to link him, and I wonder what she tells him, but it calms him down. “Are you certain?” he asks her.
She nods.
Elden takes a deep breath, reining his beast back in. He turns back to the two men, who were wise enough not to say anything to him. “Could you lead me to the dungeons without us being seen?” he asks. He points at Dante and me. “Liam’s mate Annalise and his Beta Dante will join us.”
“The plan is to free Liam before the attack,” Ella explains quietly, her voice quivering. I assume it’s going to be a while for her to come to terms with all the new revelations.
“I can take you there. I know a few secret passages,” Jun promises, then frowns. “But the place is heavily guarded. They keep a lot of our pack members there, all the kids and wives, the Omegas, everyone they can use to pressure the guys into fighting.”
Elden looks at him, eyes narrowed. They are dark with anger. I wonder what he is thinking now… maybe he feels responsible for not having realized Marcus’ actions earlier, for not saving his pack. But how could he have known? No one knew… not even Ella. It’s not his fault. It’s all on Marcus. “Liam is strong and fast,” he points out. “He is a royal Lycan with a powerful wolf. The place is heavily guarded, you say? A hundred guards are nothing for Liam and his wolf. He will breeze through them.”
There is a glimmer of hope in Emmet’s eyes. “Jun, let’s try it. What do we have to lose?”
Jun turns to look at me again like he is searching for something in my eyes. I hold his gaze. “I will not give up,” I say softly. “Ella is like a sister to me. I want to give her and everyone else the closure they deserve.”
“I will take you there,” Jun says. “Miss Annalise, was it?”
I nod with a smile. “Thank you for your help, Jun.”
The next several hours go by in a blur. Ella and I are trying to go through the plan with Dante and our new allies. Celine has already hurried back to Moon Blood to prepare for the attack. We wanted Emmet to stay back and wait until everything was over, but he refused, saying he waited for so long. Even if everything goes wrong, he prefers to go down with his pack.
Silverlake pack is buzzing. It’s a strong pack with strong warriors, and I can feel the tension and the anticipation hanging thickly in the air. They are not even that afraid for Liam… probably well aware of his abilities, but they are pissed that someone dared to lay hands on him and their fellow pack members.
Elden decides that Jun will only take him, me, and Dante to the dungeons. Otherwise, we might attract too much unwanted attention. Ella isn’t happy about it, as she wants to come with me, but I ask her to stay behind and go with the other Silverlake wolves.
“They will need you during the attack,” I point out. “You might be able to buy us more time.”
“Miss Annalise is right,” Emmet says softly. “If they see you and hear you, they might listen. Deacon’s daughter still holds a lot of value for many pack members.”
“You are much more valuable on the front line,” Elden agrees.
Only Dante frowns deeply. “On the front line?”
“I will be careful,” Ella promises. “They won’t hurt me. I know it.”
Dante looks at her for a long while. He doesn’t look too convinced. Ella takes his hand, smiling carefully. “Trust me.”
“I do,” Dante mutters, carefully closing the gap and pulling her into a hug. My heart makes a little skip of joy when she hugs him back. “Trust is not the problem. I can’t lose you.”
“I have no intention of going anywhere,” she says firmly. There is so much fighting spirit in her eyes. “Let’s take that fucker down, finally!” She frowns at Dante. “You better watch out on your own mission too! If you manage to get killed, I’ll search for you and kick your ass!”
Dante grunts, pulling her closer to him. “I wouldn’t dare to die,” he says with a smile.
Now that that’s settled, I decide to grab a few bites to eat and switch into more stretchy, athletic clothes, choosing dark pants and an equally dark tank top. Then I grab my backpack, packing several things into it. I’m not sure if we’ll need everything, but better safe than sorry. I carefully wrap the antidote Claire gave Dante into a shirt, as I need to make sure it gets to Liam and Aryanna safely. When I hurry back to the others, I stumble into Liam’s siblings. I notice Aurelia in equally dark clothes, obviously ready to head out for the fight. “You are going too?” I ask.
She nods firmly. “I’m a pack warrior, and they have my brother. There is no way I won’t fight.”
“I’m coming too,” Finn explains. He doesn’t look cheerful at all at the moment, rather serious and ready to kick ass. “El and Celine will be there too, and pretty much all my pack friends.” I have never seen him fight, but I assume he just went through the same training as the others here in the pack. Liam once told me that he is stronger than people give him credit for.
“Be careful, everyone,” Dario mutters nervously.
“Pity we can’t join you,” Felix groans. “I hate staying behind and being worried.”
Finn puts an arm around each twin, smiling warmly at them. “Don’t worry. It’s Liam we are talking about. He is probably going to burn the place down.”
“It’s not only Liam we are worried about,” Felix points out, his normally cheerful eyes clouded with worry now.
