“Your whole family is out there,” I say softly. “I understand your worries. But Finn is right… Red Claw is no match for your warriors, your father, and Liam.”

“And you?” Marius asks shortly. He hasn’t said anything up to now, but I can see the worry in his eyes. Liam might be convinced he hates him, but Marius seems to be a very insecure person deep down. Now that his pack is going into war with another, he shows a bit more of his true self.

“Why are you asking?” I ask, trying to diffuse their attention on me now. They don’t need to know I have my own plan.

“You are answering with a question,” Marius frowns, looking me over.

I have not interacted with him much. I have no idea what he really thinks or feels. After he clashed with Liam, he has kept his distance from me. I’m still not sure why he pushes everyone away, but I can use this to my advantage today. “Sorry, I was just honestly surprised to hear your voice, directed to me on top of that. I’m not used to it.”

Aurelia snorts, and the twins grin slightly. Marius looks sincerely surprised, slightly embarrassed even, and a bit annoyed. Nothing new. “Wha… why are you all laughing? I’m not that impolite and anti-social!”

“Mom said when you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all,” Aurelia points out.

Marius glares at her, but she skilfully ignores him.

I leave them alone then, glad to be able to escape the situation. The last thing I want is more questions… The only one who didn’t buy my little stunt was Finn. I can feel his eyes following me. When I turn slightly to look at him, he stares at me intently.Bring him back safely,he forms with his lips.

I nod at him. There is no way I will allow Liam to go anywhere anytime soon. I will get him out of there, and then we will go and bring justice to all the victims of Alpha Marcus. And then I want lots of sex, cuddles, and cake – preferably in that order!

Chapter forty-eight

Chapter 48 Let’s get him back!

*ANNALISE*

Asthesunsets,Elden leads everyone to his base near Red Claw. It’s an empty factory, far enough away to remain unnoticeable. He meets most of his allies there; however, some of his warriors and some of his allies go directly to the surrounding packs to keep them safe from possible attacks by Marcus’ men.

We meet some of our friends in the factory once we arrive there. Celine is part of the main group and will fight alongside Elden and her father. I hug her immediately, feeling both relieved and worried about seeing her here. “Be careful,” I whisper.

She smiles warmly. “You haven’t seen me fight in a long time, Annie.” She flashes Ella and me a confident smirk. She has changed so much. A few months ago, she might have already been strong, but she was also a bit passive and quiet. Now, she is oozing confidence and power.

“Celine,” Ella punches her shoulder playfully. “I’m proud to be allowed to fight next to you tonight!”

Some of Celine’s warriors hear Ella’s words and hurry closer, surrounding their future Alpha and telling her the same thing. I notice the respect and admiration in their eyes when they look at her.

“No one will take that position from her anymore,” I muse towards Ella, smiling a bit when I notice Dante approaching.

Ella raises her brow. “What do you mean?”

“She is Alpha Cedric’s heir. She has found her calling,” I say. “She will take over the pack and inherit her father’s position.”

“I think so too. They won’t accept anyone else,” Dante agrees, taking Ella’s hand.

Seeing the two of them together makes me happy, but it also makes my chest clench painfully. I wish Liam was here, I wish I could hug him and feel him close and tell him everything is going to be alright. I fight these feelings down, though. Liam doesn’t need to feel my restlessness right now. We are here already, and my plan will soon be set into motion. No one is going to keep me from my mate!

I distract myself from my thoughts by turning my attention toward my friends. “And you,” I point at Ella, looking at her accusingly. “You dare to have a scratch on you when I return, and you’ll be facing the mighty wrath of this Omega here.”

“Stand in line, Luna,” Dante teases.

“Woah, you two,” Ella raises her hands. “I’m going to fight alongside some of the strongest warriors in the country. You should rather be worried about yourselves. So right back at you! If any of you get hurt, you’ll face my wrath!”

I raise my brows while looking at Dante. “That’s going to be a problem.”

“Yes, young Luna,” he nods seriously.

Ella glares at us. “Very funny.”

Soon more wolves and allies approach us, some of them eating to gather their strength, some taking the time to spar a bit. The whole place is buzzing.
