I’m so glad it is over… finally. Liam is free and well, although it’s clear that the guards hurt him more than he let on. But I have to admit that Fenris heals him very fast. We are surrounded by so many people. I can see many wolves from my former pack and many from Silverlake, and some I don’t even know.
Red Claw is here, too, the whole pack minus everyone who stood against them. Elden only sent the children home to make sure they got some much-needed sleep and rest. Everyone else who wanted to stay was allowed to.
It seems that a lot of wolves wanted to stay. It looks like almost all of the pack is here, looking at us hopefully. When they see Marcus all chained up, a change comes over them. They are all angry, their pain clearly visible. Liam was right when he said we needed to capture him alive to ensure his pack gets the closure they need.
Ella squeals when she sees me, pushing through the masses of people, to hug me. “Annie! Thank goddess, you are all right.”
“Don’t worry,” Jun says proudly. “I protected her all the way to Alpha Liam.”
Dante rolls his eyes at his words, while Liam seems amused. He normally doesn’t like it when other guys crush on me but apparently, he has a weak spot for Jun. While Ella keeps asking me questions, Liam gives Dante a lopsided grin Ella finally joins Dante and hugs him too.
“You look well,” Ella states as she checks Dante over.
“Are you concerned about me?” he teases, his hand brushing over her arm.
She flushes. “No, why would you say that?”
I hide my grin. Yeah, she is so bad at lying.
When I turn my gaze back to the huge group of people, I notice how our little scene has eased some tension. Finn and Celine keep their composure, but I can see their eyes lighting up the moment they see us. Finn looks at Liam, obviously linking him, and Liam gives him a smile.
“What’s all of this supposed to mean!?” Marcus suddenly raises his voice. “Why are you standing around, allowing these assholes to harass your Alpha!?”
Dante rolls his eyes.
“Could you keep your tone down,” Elden says evenly. His voice might sound calm, but there is a deathly edge to it. “My ears are starting to hurt.”
“I’m the Alpha of this pack! They are my people! I can do whatever I want with them,” Marcus yells.
“No one can lay a hand on me!” he continues shouting at us.
