Dante turns to look at the rest of us. “Maybe us guys should be taking notes,” he says in a matter-of-fact tone. “About how to woo our ladies.”
“I was thinking the same,” Finn agrees, amused.
Dave turns back to hug Annalise again.
“I can’t believe it. I can’t believe you came. You dared to!” Annie exclaims.
“There is no way I would have missed the most important day of your life,” he smiles. “They made me sign a few papers, I got screened, and I think somewhere I read something about my tongue being ripped out should I spill any secrets to the outside,” he grins. “But it doesn’t matter. I just had to come. Because no one loves you more than I do.” He raises his hand towards me. “And before you go all crazy wolf on me sexy boy, I am not talking about that kind of love.”
Ella smiles. She exchanges a secretive glance with Celine. It seems like Finn did have some allies in inviting Dave.
“You are my angel," Dave says, his tone serious now. "You deserve all the good things happening to you right now. I know you always shrug it off, but you saved me. You could have just walked away from me five years ago, but you didn’t. You chose not to. You never chose to look away. And with that, you saved a very sad and lonely boy, who was close to giving up… and a few others who were lost and alone.” He looks at Ella briefly. “I don’t quite know the job of a Luna, but if it’s her task to protect and understand the weak, then there is no one better than you. As far as I am concerned, you are already my Luna anyway.”
It’s silent all around us. No one dares to speak or break the moment until my father steps forward. “Your name is Dave, am I correct?”
Dave gasps. “Yes,” he stutters in a very unDave-like manner. He turns to me. “Jeez, I am star-struck,” he mutters.
My mother squeals. “He is so cute. I want my own human too!”
“Mom,” Finn mutters. “He is not a pet…”
“My,” Dave’s eyes widen even more. “How beautiful. A fairy.”
Mom is obviously pleased. “Elden,” she beams. “I want him to sit with us.”
I see my father’s brows furrowing, and his glance gets darker. Next to me, I can feel Dante getting a bit nervous. I turn to look at Finn and Ella. “We should definitely not push our luck too much,” I tell them. They both nod instantly.
“Please forgive me, Mom,” Finn smiles carefully. “I think it’s for the best if the family sits with Ella, Dante, and me.”
“Aw,” she pouts but then beams a smile. “But don’t take Elden from me tonight. He is all mine!”
“I volunteer to look out for Dave tonight,” Jun offers.
Ella raises her brows in amusement. “You do?” she says softly. “Such a sacrifice, Jun.”
Annalise chuckles and winks at Dave. I grab her hand before they can continue cuddling each other. I know Dave is gay and not interested in my mate… still I have shared her enough for today. “Allow me to abduct you,” I tease.
“Where to?” She takes my hand.
I bend down to nuzzle my nose into her hair. “I was thinking we could raid the buffet,” I tease.
“Oh,” she looks at me seductively. “Now we are talking. You sure know how to make me hot for you.”
I smirk. “It’s part of the job description.”
She wiggles her brows. “Keeping your Luna entertained?”
She beams when she looks at the buffet. “They have caviar! You hate caviar.”
I shrug. “I am just one person. I won’t dictate everyone’s eating habits. And you love these weird fish eggs.”
She looks so happy all of a sudden. I wonder what the heck I said to make her look at me so full of love suddenly. “Really?”
I take her hand into mine again, leading us towards our table. “Baby, I would even eat wasabi for you.”
She chuckles, smirking up at me. “You’re obviously the man of my dreams, Liam.”
I pull her into my arms. “And you are the woman of my dreams.”
