Emerson watches us with a frown.
“You prefer my hair long?” I ask him.
“No, in fact, I think the new look will be perfect for you,” Emerson sighs. “I’m rather worried for myself.”
Anders throws him an amused glance. “Contemplating a career change?”
“That hairstyle is going to show more of her neck. Lord Liam can hold himself back, but his wolf?” he chuckles.
I wonder if that’s what I want… Liam losing his control. I love how he adapts to my pace and doesn’t rush me into anything, but I think we are ready for the next level.
“Thinking about reaching second base?” Dave asks while wiggling his brows.
“Shut up, Dave,” I chuckle while ignoring Finn’s groan at having his brother’s sex life discussed again.
Dave grins. “Then we absolutely need lingerie next!”
The guys seem all too eager to follow his lead when Celine intervenes. She grabs mine and Ella’s arms while looking at the guys. “You will all wait in that coffee shop over there,” she says in a matter-of-fact tone. It’s kinda cool how she can suddenly sound so firm and serious. Her Alpha blood really shows in these moments.
“She is right,” Ella agrees. “There is no way we’re taking you to a lingerie shop.” She turns on her heels. “Let’s go, girls.”
The guys groan a bit, but they don't stand a chance against Celine and Ella. Emerson seems to be relieved that he can stay behind. I'm glad he's with the guys, though, and he takes it upon himself to cheer them up. "I'm actually happy to have some girl time." Ella chuckles.
I nod with a beaming smile. Me too. “We need to do this more often.”
“Absolutely.”
“And…” Ella whispers. “Are you thinking about taking the next step with Liam?”
“Yes,” I admit. “I’m not entirely sure yet, but I think I want us to get closer.”
“Liam is adapting to your pace,” Celine muses. “He needs you to give him clear signals.”
She is right. I remember the moment in the car and how appalled he looked when I grabbed his wrist. He thought he did something I didn’t like. I might need to be a little bolder. “Then let’s prepare for third base!”

Liam’smeetingdoesn’tlastas long as we both thought it would. He links me instantly after it ends, inviting me to his apartment in town. I’m so relieved I don’t need to visit his pack yet. The thought does make me nervous. I know I’m stalling, but I want to spend a bit more time with him before making it official. Before meeting everyone. I don’t know why it makes me freak out so much, but in my mind’s eye, I already see them judging me for being an Omega. It’s probably my good old insecurities shining through again. It’s so difficult to get rid of them.
I put on one of my new tops. A red one. I catch myself thinking how Liam likes that color on me. Goddess… when did I become so dependent on a guy’s opinion?
It’s the same for him.Leah interrupts my trail of thoughts.He indulges you with things you enjoy and like.
But-
He hasn’t marked and mated you yet, has he?Leah sounds slightly fed up.He wants to. I know it; I feel it. But he adapts to your pace.She pauses.

I notice again how Leah is getting stronger. I don’t quite understand how it works, but I figure, just like I need to do some growing up, she will develop and progress too. Since I met Liam, her voice has become a bit stronger and her advice more distinctive. It’s a change I quite enjoy because in case things go down, she will be my most important supporter.
I know that Liam trained a lot to be in sync with Fenris. I wonder if I can also train my bond with Leah?
