“Just a prank, just a prank,” the kid blurts out. “Really. Nothing serious!”

“Tell me!” he roars.

“There is an empty well. We wanted to take her there and… just for a few hours… really…”

They wanted to lock me into a freaking well!? I can feel the tension crawling over my body again. Liam must have felt it, too, because he growls.

I can see their eyes widen in fear. They don’t even get it, I figure. They’re a bunch of teens. I pause in my thoughts. Wait a moment… I know them… They are… “They are from my pack,” I mutter. “Liam, they are Moon Blood wolves.”

“What!? You treat one of your own fellow wolves like that?”

“I’m going to call their Alpha,” Ari says. She pats Liam’s arm, nodding towards me.

Liam turns to look at me. I must have looked shocked because he lets go of the guy and hurries back to my side.

“I didn’t overreact?” I want to know.

“No, it was the absolute right thing to call me.” Liam kneels in front of me again.

“That one guy, the older one, he looked creepy.” I shiver. “I don’t know, like he wanted to do something to me.”

Liam’s gaze darkens at my words.

“Maybe I just imagined it,” I mutter helplessly. I’m so confused. I don’t even know what’s going on anymore. “I've been constantly on edge lately.”

Liam catches on immediately. “Why? What else happened?”

“Someone sent me photos and threatened me through messages,” I admit quietly. Time to come clean. “I wasn’t sure before, I thought it was just a stalker or one of your fans, but thinking about it now, it had to be one of them.”

“No,” one of the wolves blurts out.

Liam’s Beta kicks him. “No one is talking to you,” he hisses.

I can see all color draining from the guys’ faces. “We just took the photos and made sure to diffuse our scent. We didn’t send her anything or threaten her,” he hurries to explain.

Liam raises to full height. “Are you telling me that you snuck around my mate, invaded her privacy, and took photos of her!?”

“Alpha Liam,” his Beta faces him, his demeanor changing slightly. He looks more submissive now, more careful, more on guard. “Alpha Liam. I’m certain Moon Blood pack will deal with that issue. They are teens,” he says quietly but with insistence. “Teens.”

“Dante, Liam,” Ari is back again. So his other Beta's name is Dante? “Alpha Cedric is sending a bunch of his people. He’s not in town, or he would have come personally. His daughter is coming though.”

All color drains from the teens’ faces.

Ari’s information and Dante’s words apparently cooled Liam down enough for him not to rip their heads off. “Dante,” he commands. “Look after them. Make sure they remain quiet. I don’t trust myself not to rip their heads off otherwise. Ari, wait for Celine and the pack warriors at the meeting point so they know where to find us.”

Dante nods. “Yes, Alpha.”

Ari nods too and shuffles away, not before turning to look at me, flashing an encouraging and warm smile. To my surprise, there is slight pride in her eyes too. “You fought well,” she whispers to me.

I’m not sure. Did I? I have no fighting experience, and I think I could have done better. Time to start training for real.

I don’t know how long we wait, but it doesn't feel that long with Liam, his arms wrapped protectively around me. I can sense that he’s torn between getting me away from here as fast as possible and following his duties, supervising the situation until Celine takes over.

I want to wait too and see what’s going on. Also, I can feel that we are not done yet. Liam will have more questions for Celine, the guys, and probably me.

Celine appears later, being led to the scene by Ari. Her lips are just a thin line. “You threatened a fellow member of our pack,” she hisses. “Alpha Cedric will deal with you personally later tonight.” She turns towards Liam and me. “Lord Liam, Annie, I give you my word that this will not go without consequences. Please allow us to handle this.”

“It was supposed to be a joke,” one of the guys insists.
