“He saw how lost he was,” Liam explains. “And wanted to see if Nox could change if he got a chance. Six years later, he is doing great. He admires my father so much.”

“And the other pack members didn’t mind?”

“They did, but my parents’ words carry a lot of weight, and since my father treated him with understanding, the others came around pretty quickly.” Liam pauses. “I learned a lot from how he handled that incident. I hope I will be a good leader too one day.”

“You will be a wonderful Alpha,” I say with a smile.

The last place Liam shows me is the outdoor sports area with the swimming pool, a football field, and the main garden. It’s the garden that makes me pause and look around in awe. “This is stunning.” I turn around to look at all the flowers surrounding me. It’s breathtaking. The garden is tastefully arranged and very well looked after. I take my time strolling through the little paths. One section looks like a Japanese Zen Garden. There is also an entire flower bed of only sunflowers.

“I can’t believe how wonderful this place is,” I repeat.

“We are very pleased that you like our work.” Two older wolves, a woman, and a man approach us with a smile. By the way they look at each other, they have to be mates. I figure this is my greatest dream, growing old together with Liam and still looking at him like this elderly she-wolf looks at her mate. Technically, Lycans age very slowly, so we won’t become old fast. But still, I hope in 50 years we can still look at each other the way we do now.

“You tend to the garden all alone?” I ask, my eyes widening.

“Oh goddess, no,” the woman smiles brightly. “We have a whole bunch of wonderful helpers. And Liam- “she pats Liam’s arm lovingly. “He always makes sure we get enough rest.”

“Claire and Robert are like my aunt and uncle,” Liam explains warmly. “I spent a lot of time in the gardens growing up.”

Claire smiles brightly. “Liam was always like our own son. We never were blessed with children, but we always loved our Alpha’s and Luna’s children.”

“You should also visit Emerson and the baby,” Robert points out.

I turn to look at Liam. “Can we? I’d love to say hello!”

He chuckles slightly. “Of course.”

We spend the rest of the evening with Emerson and his mate Daisy and their baby Fleur. Both seem to be genuinely surprised and happy to see me. Daisy even shows me the blanket I bought for them and how Fleur loves to snuggle with it. I notice that she looks tired. Liam told me that she almost died during labor. It’s why he told Emerson to take some time off so that he can be there for his mate.

We leave before it gets too late, not wanting to bother them for too long. “I was thinking,” Liam looks at me. “How tired are you?”

“Why?” I smirk. “What’s your plan?”

“I thought I should show you why our pack is called the Silverlake pack,” he explains.

“You mean, let our wolves out and go for a run?” my eyes widened at his suggestion. Freaking yes!

Liam leads me to a secluded area where we can undress peacefully without interruptions. Then we shift, and I allow Leah to take over. She has missed Fenris so much. I can tell by how overjoyed she was when she realized we were going for a run together.

We can do this more regularly soon, Leah,I promise.

I know, she sounds happy. Was about time he marked you. And you marked him. Show everyone he is ours!

I can’t help but grin at her possessive tone.Have fun.

She and Fenris take a moment to snuggle against each other before taking off, Fenris taking the lead. The run through the forest is long. Silverlake pack is huge. I have missed feeling the fresh air around me, the ground beneath my paws. Nothing compares to running through the wild like this.

We pass a river, several streams and clearings until Liam finally halts in front of a lake. He shifts back to his human form and I follow suit. There is something so vulnerable and intimate about being completely naked after shifting. It doesn’t make me feel uncomfortable, though. Instead, I feel a complete sense of belonging. My nakedness doesn’t embarrass me anymore.

Liam takes my hand and leads me toward the lake. “Look,” he says with a smile.

I follow his gaze, my eyes widening at the view in front of me. The large lake lies before us, slight dusk around it. The darkness of night has fallen around us, but the lake is illuminated by the moon and the stars above, coloring the scenery in gleaming silver.

Silverlake.

I’m speechless. “This is… wow… it’s beyond words!”

“You like it?”
