Raffy pulls out of me completely, and for a moment I shiver at the loss of contact. “I love you,” he says all of a sudden before turning me onto my back, placing my legs on his shoulders, and slamming into me again.

I use the moment to wrap my hands around his strong arms. “Make me yours,” I hear myself say.

Raffy stops for a split second, his eyes holding a look of insecurity. “My life’s dangerous, Dave. Are you sure about that?”

“You think I can walk away from you again after this night?” I blurt out. “Fuck, you think I don’t feel the mate bond?” I force my eyes open to stare into his. “Nero,” I mutter. “I’m ready to be your mate too.”

Raffy’s eyes turn completely black, and it’s different than before when they were darkened in lust. This time his wolf is fully present. “Mate,” he growls.

He grabs me by my waist and pulls me closer before starting to thrust into me with newfound energy.

“Mate,” he repeats. “Mine.”

“Yes, I’m yours,” I exclaim, my mind floating due to the intensity of it all. I close my eyes, not able to hold them open anymore, feeling how my head gets tilted to the side, and teeth grace the skin of my neck. No, not teeth, fangs. A sharp pain floods me when he bites down on it, followed by the most intense orgasm I’ve ever had. It makes my head spin. I’m not sure anymore what I do or say, but I know I’m screaming out Raffy’s name.

Warm arms pull me in a welcoming hug. I can feel Raffy’s seed filling me and his thrusts getting slower. He keeps saying things to me, and although I’m not sure what he says, his words feel comforting and gentle.

I smile.

“I do too,” I say tiredly when I can feel Raffy move out of me. He pulls me into a tight embrace. “I love you too.”

Chapter forty

Emergencies

*DAVE*

Theacheinmylower back is no joke. I groan as I wake up and stir under the blanket. I need more than a few moments to know what’s happened, but the moment realization settles in, my eyes fly wide open, and I sit up abruptly. “Shit,” I groan, feeling the ache getting stronger. “I shouldn’t have done that.”

“Hey, Dave.” A gentle hand moves towards my shoulder and pulls me back down. “Be careful.”

“Rich coming from the man who fucked me like there was no tomorrow,” I complain, just for the sake of whining.

Raffy chuckles as he pulls me against his chest. “Rich coming from the man who begged me to do it.”

I sigh. “Touché.”

Raffy kisses my cheeks before moving to my lips and pecking them softly. “This was amazing, Dave, thank you.”

“No kidding. Even if you hadn’t marked me, I would not be able to leave you,” I mutter. “Obviously, no one can fuck me like you do.”

Raffy laughs.I take that as a compliment.I can hear his voice in my mind.

My eyes fly open. “What did you say?”

I said, I take it as a compliment,Raffy repeats, but his lips aren’t moving. So either he has an awesome talent in ventriloquism, or he just linked me.

“Can I do that too?” I ask hopefully.

Of course, you allowed me to mark you, which tied our souls together.Raffy smiles gently.

“But how?”

Raffy takes my hand into his, making me feel the sparks and tingles. “Concentrate on this feeling,” he says. “You said you do yoga, right? Then you know how to meditate. Focus on yourself, feel the sparks, follow them, and find the bond that connects us. It’s an instinct, Dave.”

I nod, closing my eyes, and concentrate on the tingles on my skin, on the feeling of warmth his touch leaves, the sound of his voice. I try to blend everything out, just focus on him and his breath, the way his heart thumps against my chest. Eventually, I realize it’s not my skin and his pressed against each other that allows me to hear his heartbeat. It’s the bond between us. I follow the feeling further until I reach a black veil. Don’t be scared, a voice inside me tells me, and I’m not quite sure who it belongs to. I push the veil aside and look directly into the deep brown eyes of a beautiful black wolf. I should be scared to see such a huge beast, but I’m not. Instead I am filled with a feeling of belonging. The wolf tilts his head, waiting for me to come closer. I haven’t seen a werewolf in so long; the last one was the only one I saw, and it’s when Annie, Ella, and I got attacked while hiking. The rogues back then were a lot smaller, almost scrawny, but this beast here, it’s strong and regal. Its fur is black like the night, except for the tips of his ear being white, so are his paws.

You’re beautiful, Nero,I say.
