Instead of walking home, I make a detour to the training grounds, coming right in time to see Raffy slamming a fellow warrior to the ground like the god he is. I watch them for the remainder of the training, making sure not to get too close so that my scent won’t distract Raffy.
He is really doing well… in my humble opinion he is one of the best in his group. He is also easily the hottest. Dante seems content with his progress, too, as he praises him here and there and corrects him far less than the others.
“I will transfer you to the advanced class,” Dante tells him when he wraps up the training. “Now that you are connected with your wolf, you’re far too strong for the standard group.”
Raffy almost beams in pride at his words. “Thank you, Beta,” he mutters. I can see how he furrows his brows a bit and looks broody. It’s so cute that he still does that when he is flustered. He has really found his confidence again, but I’m glad some of his broody cuteness remained.
Dante nods at him. “If you keep this up, you’ll soon find yourself in the elite group, Raphael.”
His words obviously make him even more flustered, and he barely manages to thank Dante. Dante nods at him approvingly and leaves to talk to some of the other warriors. When Raffy thinks no one is watching him, he fists his hand and pumps it into the air, making a little victory move.
Then he sees me, his eyes widening. He approaches me swiftly. “You saw that,” he mutters bashfully.
I grab his sweaty face between my hands and pull him into a kiss. “You were so hot out there, easily the hottest.”
He pulls me into his arms, making me wrap my legs around his waist.
“Get a room, you two!” one of the warriors hollers, and the others laugh.
Raffy ignores them and kisses me. A guy who can display his emotions and his want for me so openly is truly hot. I’ve been with guys who were embarrassed or scared to even hold my hand in public, and Raffy just doesn’t give a shit about it all, and it just makes me want to ride his cock even more.
“I have news too.” I smirk, pulling away from his kiss.
Raffy eyes me curiously. “Is that the reason you came to pick me up?”
I nod, flashing him a bright smile and waving my folder at him. “Guess who was just made an advisor for the Council… for human affairs.”
Raffy’s mouth drops open. “What!?” he exclaims. “That’s… wow…”
The other warriors who have been listening come scooting closer now, their eyes wide in surprise. I didn’t think much when Liam appointed me this task, other than it was important, but by the reaction of my fellow pack members, I’m starting to notice it’s possibly a bigger thing than I thought it was.
My eyes meet Dante’s, and he nods at me encouragingly, even smiling at me.
Raffy lets me down again, and I straighten my clothes. “I just had an appointment with Alpha Liam,” I tell him. “He asked me if I’d be ready to take up the task, and I said yes.” I feel slightly flustered by all the attention on me now. Normally I love having all eyes on me, but this time I’m feeling a bit embarrassed. “I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to give something to my pack.”
“This is fantastic, Dave,” Raffy blurts out. “Wow, I’m mates with a celebrity!”
“Do you even know what it means to be an advisor?” One of the warriors chimes in, eyeing me in awe. “It makes you a high-ranking member automatically. It gives you access to buildings, knowledge, information none of us have access to. From our pack, only Alpha Liam and Luna Annalise are members of the Council. You’re either a royal lycan, mated to one, a special wolf, or an advisor.”
“You will be working with the royals,” Dante explains further, showing me a warm smile. “You’re the first and only human advisor they will have.”
“I wasn’t even aware that it was that special,” I admit, completely dumbfounded. “I just thought it would be a great chance to do something for the pack and maybe for pack members of other packs who have difficulties accepting human mates out of fear of being shunned or made rogues.”
“This is awesome.” One of the female warriors beams. “It’s so cool that one of our pack members was chosen for this!”
“Right.” Another warrior high-fives her. “Red Claw for the win.”
“We are the best,” another one hollers, and soon they start chanting a silly Red Claw song like they’re a bunch of frat boys, kind of reminding me of cheerleaders cheering for their football team. It’s cute though.
I wonder why Liam didn’t tell me how important this job truly was. Realization settles in when I figure he probably wanted to test me to see if I was truly up for the task without knowing the many benefits it had.
Is it really that important?I ask Dante.
Yes, and the fact that you didn’t know,Dante links me.And still took the task, just to do something for your pack, will earn you even more respect from the other pack members,he tells me.You’ve certainly earned mine.
I don’t know what to say to so much praise other than,I will give my best not to disappoint you and my fellow pack members.
He nods at me.You know, some werewolves think humans will never be cut for pack life, that they will never understand how a pack works. They think your kind won’t be able to be part of it, but you have proved them wrong.
